GETTING STARTED IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY -
LAPAROSCOPIC COLECISTECTOMY
AND OTHER FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES
M
Course objectives:
To describe all the basic principles (instruments, materials, anaesthesia and laparoscopic equipments) of the most used basic laparoscopic techniques;
Hands-on training sessions to learn or improve performance of basic technical tasks in laparoscopic surgery such as dissection, intra-corporeal suturing and knot tying techniques;
Two-hand co-ordination for dissection;
Safe use of energy in laparoscopy;
To describe results and potential complications of laparoscopic procedures;
All this information has to establish a basic knowledge to the surgeon, required for clinical applications.

MAIN TOPICS
Equipment:
Basic principles of laparoscopic surgery:
Laparoscopic Biliary Surgery:
Laparoscopic Emergency Surgery:
Medico-legal Aspects
Staplers in Laparoscopic Surgery
NOTES:
Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS)
Robotic Surgery:
Experimentaly lab (practice on live tissue):
Operating theatre - choice of equipment;The laparoscopic cart: - insufflator - light source
- camera;Conventional laparoscopic instrumentation andmicro-instruments;Electrosurgery.
Positioning of trocars;Knots;Operative room organization;Specificity of laparoscopic approach in obese patients.
Cholecystectomy – Techniques, Complications,Results;Common bile duct surgery.
Laparoscopic exploration;Laparoscopic appendectomy;Management of: - Peritonitis (perforated ulcus, diverticulitis);
- Small bowel obstruction.
A new era?
Present and future.
Basic principles: insufflation – positioning of trocars – open laparoscopy;Clips – staples – laparoscopic sutures – knots – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy;Small bowel resection (endoGIA – intracorporeal suture – surgitie);Small bowel dissection and anastomoses;Splenectomy.

TRAINING COURSE IN LAPAROSCOPIC
ADVANCED DIGESTIVE SURGERYL
Course objectives:
To improve the laparoscopic skills in a broad spectrum of surgical procedures in digestive surgery.
To discuss indications for surgical treatment and operative complications.
To stress the technical aspects of the surgical interventions through the transmission of live procedures. Real-time discussion between the operators and the surgeon trainees are allowed.
To provide hands-on sessions to improve skills in laparoscopic surgery through practice on live tissue under tutorials of the experts.
To present postoperative clinical results and practical applications of evidence-based clinical medicine.
