In the beginning, God created the

Heavens and the Earth and everything in it

in six days. On the 7th day He rested.

On the seventh day God completed

the work he had been doing; he rested on

the seventh day from all the work he had

undertaken. God blessed the seventh day

and made it holy, because on it he rested

from all the work he had done in creation.

- Genesis 2:2-3

As the apostles return from the mission Jesus sent them, he noticed that

they were tired and told them: “Come away

by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a

while.” - Mark 6:31.

Just as God rested after six days of

work, so he calls us to rest after long days of doing his work. He calls us to a silent

place where we can rest and absorb all that

has happened during the previous days. He

calls us into the silence so we can listen to Him speak to our hearts. He calls us into

an isolated place so we cannot be

distracted when he is speaking to us.

Through this passage, God tells us that to live is not about work, work, work. We

must have a day to rest, a time for silence,

a place to deepen our relationship with him

without distractions. God wants us to not just to share the Good News, but also to

meditate on all the good things we witness

through his Mercy.

Nos llama en el silencio para que podamos escucharlo hablar a nuestros corazones. Él nos pone en un lugar aislado, para no ser distraído cuando él nos está hablando. A través de este pasaje, Dios nos dice que la vida no se trata de trabajo, trabajo, trabajo. Debemos tener un día de descanso, un tiempo de silencio, un lugar para profundizar nuestra relación con él sin distracciones. Dios quiere que no sólo compartamos las Buenas Nueva, sino también que meditemos sobre todas las cosas buenas de las que somos testigos a través de su misericordia. - Anónimo
