Role of IBM Community Student Ambassador and Blue Scholars in IBM Academic initiative process at K.L.N.College of Engineering
Every year IBM plays a significant role in
improving the quality of an Engineer through
its IBM software Centre of Excellence. Since
IBM provides all the software and resource
materials, students get much exposure and
scope to know about the latest trends and
requirements in the IT industry. IBM also
focuses keenly on blue scholars who
successfully completed two IBM
certifications and IBM TGMC project
submission.
The benefit of IBM certifications and blue scholar certificate are enormous. Students get
much insight about the latest tools which help them to complete their regular academic
project. This kind of industry recognized certifications will enable the student to perform well
in their campus placement. These kinds of extracurricular activities will attract the employer
to select the students.
Since 2004 K.L.N. College of Engineering is focusing more on IBM Initiative activities.
Every year our college receives outstanding contribution award in TGMC for more number
of registrations. Our students won the first prize in TGMC contest during the year 2007 and
2008.The exclusive club run by the IBM student ambassador and Blue scholars namely
“ISOFT CLUB (IBM Software Club) cater the needs of the students regarding IBM tools.
The activities of this club are reviewed periodically by the faculty coordinators
N.Lakshminarasimman, Professor and R.Alageswaran, Associate Professor of CSE
department. Mr.Himanshu Goyal, Country Manager and Mr.R.Saravanan, Regional manager

by the students like IBM Certifications and TGMC project. Most of the questions were
towards this part during the interview where in all the students handled the situations very
well. The ounce of practices and the amount of confidence made them to do well in the
interview. The result yields tones of happiness to most of the families who waited for their
first graduates get placement in big corporate.
VI Road map of COE
All the blue scholars clearly explained about
the activities they had done and how they
helped to their juniors in shaping their skills.
Also they personally explained about the
benefits of blue scholar certifications and
experiences during their interview process.
Based on the suggestions and
recommendations by the IBM executives and
other members, the following activities have been planned.
1. More number of students should be motivated for IBM Blue scholar certificates.
2. Enough training should be given to students
regarding TGMC Project.
3. IBM student ambassadors and ISOFT club
members should take more initiatives to
impart more training in fundamentals before
commencement of every IBM Certifications
as well as placement.
4. Few commercial projects should be done
with the help of blue scholars in IBM COE.
5. More staff will be trained and involved in IBM certification courses and TGMC Projects.
