All of our robotics batteries utilise rechargeable lithium chemistry of various formulations. For those who need the highest energy density, our lithium ion 2590, VR and CMX battery ranges provide both power and energy in compact packages. When service life is critical, but space is at less of a premium, our lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) series provides rugged, dependable power.

As safety is paramount all of our batteries are designed and assembled to the highest levels of quality. Ultralife operate three manufacturing plants in the USA, UK and China, all of which are ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 accredited. Our rechargeable lithium ion batteries include integrated protection against all forms of reasonable foreseeable misuse. With the added protection against preventable cell imbalance, users will realize maximized energy delivery per cycle and full life of the product. Select models include enhanced smart battery features which go beyond traditional fuel gauging - our smart batteries work in harmony with a smart charger and the host robot to ensure power is delivered safely and efficiently.

ULTRALIFE 2590 SERIES LITHIUM ION BATTERIESULTRALIFE’s range of military 2590 rechargeable lithium ion smart batteries were born on the battlefield, powering mission critical devices such as man worn radios and ordinance disposal robots. The latest COTS versions of these legendary batteries are the perfect solution for powering robots when reliability and performance are mandatory. Each battery measures just 112.5mm x 63.0mm x 127.0mm (a volume of just x 0.9 litres) making them extremely compact, boasting an energy density of up to 334Wh/L.

Each 2590 battery consists of two individual 14.4V battery sections which can be externally connected in either series or parallel, depending on user requirements. The addition of an LCD visual state of charge indicator for each string allows for easy checking of available capacity.

Selected ULTRALIFE 2590 batteries are fully compliant with System Management Bus (SMBus) and Smart Battery System (SBS) specifications, which means they are easily integrated into compatible host systems or smart chargers.

All Ultralife 2590 batteries have been designed under inspiration of the recently released U.S. Military Performance Specification MIL-PRF-32383/3(CR) and come from the factory with IEC 62133:2012 certification - the requisite safety standard for lithium ion batteries. This family of batteries is perfect for a variety of applications where ruggedization and energy density are needed most.

VR SERIES BATTERIESACCUTRONICS VR Series smart batteries are ideal for smaller robotic applications where high energy and smart battery functionality is required. The VR420A is a 14.4V 6.2Ah (89.3Wh) lithium ion smart battery which is capable of being discharged at up to 6A. It features a fully SMBus SBS compliant BMS which provides impedance tracking fuel gauging in addition to active protection against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and over-temperature.

Its tough UL94V-0 rated plastic case features runners for slotting into a host device, making hot swapping easier.

The VR420A meets the requirements of UN38.3 (transport), UL 2054 (safety) and IEC 62133:2012 (safety).

CMX SERIES BATTERIESACCUTRONICS CMX series batteries use innovative NMC lithium ion chemistry to provide a blend of energy and power. CMX series batteries are available in both 14.4V and 28.8V options and can be discharged at up to 20A (CMX420M). A fully SMBus and SBS compliant BMS provides fuel gauging in addition to active protection and cell balancing.

Due to their high current capability, each CMX series battery features a D-sub connector which provides both power and communication. All CMX series batteries are <100Wh and UN38.3 compliant making them easier to transport. Safety is assured as the batteries are all certified to IEC/UL 62133:2012.

THE HEART OF YOUR MACHINE

LITHIUM IRON PHOSPHATE BATTERIES ULTRALIFE’s range of lithium iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries provide outstanding service life in both backup and cyclic applications making them suitable as an uninterruptible power supply in stationary robots, or the main drive battery in autonomous guides vehicles and other motor driven robot applications.

The range covers eight batteries from 12.8V, 7.5Ah (96Wh) to 12.8V, 100Ah (1.28kWh) ensuring there is battery for most robotic applications. Each battery incorporates a sophisticated battery management system (BMS) which protects against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature, safeguarding the battery if abused.

Most ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries can be connected in both series and parallel to construct an array with higher voltage and/or capacity. Up to 20 batteries (limited to 5-series and 4-parallel) can be connected. Internal balancing systems withinthe BMS of each battery maximise performance and safety oneach charge cycle.

Regulatory compliance is assured as all ULTRALIFE LiFePO4 batteries are certified to UN38.8 (transportation) and IEC

62133:2012 (safety). Selected models also hold UL2054 (safety) certification.

In addition, the URB0012-01 and URB12400-U1-SMB feature fuel gauging and an SMBus communication interface so host devices can read runtime and other pertinent data.
