You may do a monologue (must be a full monologue) or find a partner/group. Scripts may not be seen in the video. Use props and costumes. The video will be shown in class. **Extra Credit for anyone who does the e ntire Queen Mab speech. Category 2: CREATIVE/WRITING Activities to choose from: 1. Gravestone -- Death lies on her like an untimely frost/Upon the sweetest flower of all the field. This sad remark by Lord Capulet about Juliet could s erve as her epitaph (inscription on a grave). Write a similar epitaph ( (2) two lines in iambic pentameter ) for three of the f ollowing characters: Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, and Paris. Indicate at least one characterizing trait in each epitaph. These should be mounted on tombstones ( materials choice is up to you), making certain that the epitaphs can be clearly read. 2. Movie Poster -- Design a movie poster for your version of Romeo and Juliet . Your poster must be poster sized and include some type of graphic or artwork that illustrates themes and/or motifs of the play. You must also cast Romeo, Juliet, and one other major character with modern actors. Your cast selection must appear somewhere on your poster. How they appear can be modeled after common formats of movie posters. Your poster must also contain at least one fictitious Elizabethan critic blurb about your movie. The blurb must be written in Sh akespearean English. For example, Runnest thou must to behold this saucy tale! Roger Elizabert. ****You may not cast the chic and the dude from Tw ilight as R and J. Your selection must demonstrate that you understand what types of characters R and J a re and must not merely be who you think is the prettiest or hottest actors/actresses in Hollywood. Along these lines, you may cast an older or deceased actor/actress from when they were younger as long as you indicate as much. 3. Facebook Page Create a Facebook page for a main character in RJ. It must be formatted like a real Facebook page and include posts from other characters on the page. The more detailed you get, the better. For example, what kind of ads would pop up in the margins of Juliets page? 4. Interpret a scene Write the play of Romeo and Juliet in 2011 vernacular (common speech). Each line of your interpretation must match a line of the original ve rsion of the play. You can pick your own idea of where to set your version, or you may expand on the brainstorming that you did with your g roup on a high school version. Your script must be accompanied by a thorough description of the world of your play. 5. Wild Card -- You know your ta lents and interests. If you can think of something to link to the play, please feel free to suggest it. Write a detailed description of what youd like to d o and how it will deepen your understanding o f the play. I will consider it, and, if I think it is appropriate, approve it. I have complete, total, and utter veto power. If I reject your proposal, you will need to select from those offered above. **Rubrics to follow
