RGS Junior School Bulletin
I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to all students and their families who helped out last Saturday with our Open Morning. We couldn’t have been as
welcoming to our visitors without you and I was told, many times, that you were outstanding. And we have continued this week with another 50 families taking up appointments. I’ve lost my voice - impossible!
Mr Craig

HOCKEY MATCH REPORTS
Westfield School Hockey Match Report On Tuesday 14th November the Year 6 B team played Westfield School. It was a great game with RGS scoring 4 goals! We worked together as a team and moved the ball well. The final score was 4-0 to us! Well done everyone! Rachel (6M)
Dame Allan's Hockey Match Report On Thursday of last week, two teams of Year 6 and one Year 5 team played hockey against Dame Allan's. There was some great passing and tackling during the games. Goalkeeper Rae Faith made some strong saves for her team! Well done to Ayesha Premchand in Year 5 who made her debut as a goalkeeper and kept a clean sheet in both matches she played! Overall, it was a very enjoyable morning of hockey with a clean sweep of wins for RGS; 1-0, 2-0 and 2-0!! Well done girls! Cara (6W)
Yarm School Match Reports Year 5 ‘A’ Team Hockey On Friday last week, the Year 5 ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ team girls went to Yarm School to play hockey. As we got on the bus we realised this was in fact a luxury, with plush seats and televisions everywhere! We all enjoyed the journey and on our arrival the Yarm girls looked tough!! Were we going to win? Unfortunately for them, they just couldn’t beat us!! The ‘A’ team was 3-0 to us, and all of the girls played spectacularly well, with good passes and technique. All the girls should be proud of themselves. Thanks to Mrs Barlow and to Miss Whitney for their commitment. Beth (5W)
Year 5 ‘B’ Team Last Friday we had an amazing match against Yarm winning 4-1. Hannah Zheng scored 3 goals with Felicity also being on the score sheet. Our passing play has improved and we also marked the opposition well. A brilliant victory and the girls played well. Shree (5S), Hannah (5W), Lola (5S and Nisna (5S)
Year 5 ‘C’ Team Last Friday the C team played a friendly match against Yarm where we won 5-0! Tanvi Narula and Megha Thomas scored 2 goals each with the other coming from Grace Saul-Grey. We all played really well and it was an enjoyable afternoon. Tanvi (5B) & Megha (5W)

Last Friday saw the whole school turn spotty for Children in Need! The day started with an assembly led by a group of girls from 6M and there was a number of fundraising activities taking place throughout the day.
I am pleased to report that the children raised a very impressive £1223.69 for Children in Need - an amazing total which will help many children less fortunate than ourselves. Well done to all involved! Miss Bolam
Dear Gymnasts and Parents,
House Gymnastics Competition – Friday 1st December 2017
This is a wonderful event and parents are encouraged to attend. During the morning session, all junior school pupils will take part in a competition that is both fun and exciting. The afternoon event is for the more advanced gymnasts. Again, this is a fantastic competition, where world champions perform alongside gymnasts who have only three months experience in the sport. The competition is brought to a close by a gymnastics display involving our top performers. If you would like to attend this event, please be sure to sign in and collect a visitors pass from either the junior or senior School office.

All Different, All Equal
As an extension of Anti-Bullying Week, Firehorse Productions visited us on Tuesday. Performing ‘The
B-Word’ at the Miller Theatre, school characters Dan, Phoebe and Tom demonstrated different types of
bullying and the serious effects it can have on all involved. Years 3-6 proved to be a fantastic audience,
with many volunteering to help the actors on stage!
The play showed us how not to behave. Tonk wasn’t a nice person.
Rohaan 3C
I liked how it taught us a lesson of how to make people feel welcome and happy.
Varun 4C
I think the anti-bullying play was amazing because it was engaging and gave us the message in a fun way.
Each character stood out and played their role well. We really enjoyed it.
Shree 5S
Emotional, funny and 10/10. I loved the story of Dan, Faffy and Tonk. I learned a lot about bullying from
it.
