Naturally, as all sectors of the economy benefit from infrastructure improvements in roads, communications, water supply, sewerage, and port facilities, combined with a stable

political environment and educated work force, this has attracted foreign investors from several different sectors. This has required RG Group to be flexible, informative and communicative with their clients, as Rayneau explains:

“We have created a dynamic and interactive manner of working,” he says, “Allowing us to work hand-in-hand with the customer to achieve results that are above the grade.”

TRANSPARENCY AND COMMUNICATIONRayneau explains that the development of their website was

essential for them to facilitate an ongoing connectivity with their clients and a reliable port-of-call for queries regarding products, services and projects.

“The ability to contact and interact with our business development and sales personnel has decreased the response time for query to result for our clients,” he says, “Which in itself is good customer service.”

Through the website, clients are able to see products and services, estimate and calculate the amount of material required for their specific projects and see how the company, as a group, has been interacting with its clients and the public.

“At the RG Group we go the extra mile to deliver excellent services and quality products in a timely fashion,” Rayneau tells us, “And our website allows us to further enhance this experience so we can continue providing innovative ways to keep you informed of our overall service offerings.”

The focus on the website is important as it illustrates where the real power of this company lies. RG Group is not a business concerned with lofty statements or heavy online and social media presences as it is far more hands-on with its projects to waste time trying to get their name out there in a more indirect manner.

Recognised as the largest locally-owned construction company in Saint Lucia, with over 300 employees and close to 100 pieces of heavy equipment and a seemingly endless supply of quality raw material, the group is well positioned as a leader in its field. With a high percentage of repeat clients and great emphasis placed on customer service, the RG Group is geared towards achieving its goals to provide overall service beyond expectations.

“Social media and digital marketing has its place,” he says, “But the industry here has not yet started to rely on social media very heavily and focussing on our strengths is how we succeed and our strength lies in constructing.”

The industry in St Lucia and the Caribbean is rife with opportunity and the construction industry has entered into one of its busiest periods in recent history. As such, the RG Group of companies has been very busy and pushed to its capacity, which

A sovereign island country, St Lucia finds itself in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. Forming part of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent and northwest of Barbados. Currently, the country relies heavily on its production of bananas and tourism, but as both industries grow, a number of offshoot industries have sprung up providing opportunities for businesses like the RG Group of Companies to offer the expertise and strength to facilitate this growth.

is a situation that lends itself very well to the company’s overall vision, which is a simple and powerful one, “We want to be the most professional, innovative and dynamic construction group in St. Lucia and the Caribbean.”

Rayneau explains that there are a couple of approaches being utilised to help achieve this vision, which support and enhance each other, “We build organisation and institutional capacity by creating wealth and employment,” he explains, “And have found that this further encourages innovation within our staff. In turn this helps develop professional capabilities and fosters relationships locally and regionally. Finally, this helps us deliver the best quality products and services and ensures that our service is beyond expectation.”

Investments into staff training are important to the company, which values its employees as their main asset. Rayneau insists that the only way to properly look after your clients is to look after your staff and that one cannot work well without the other and while he believes in being hands on, he is not one for micromanagement.

“Train your staff,” Rayneau says, “Equip them with the best tools for them to do their jobs and give them the space to work.”

§WHAT LIES AHEADThe future for the industry in the region holds a cache of

opportunities yet to be revealed. As it stands, the countries are setting the ground work for an influx of foreign investment and development from local businesses.

“For the future we’ll continue to be innovative and recognise niche markets that would benefit on a national level,” Rayneau says, “We always have been and will continue to be keen on exploring new ways of meeting old needs that will help us excel in key areas.”

Developments and growth in training are aimed at further enhancing the staff’s ability to ensure quality customer satisfaction and an ongoing search and development for the next generation of contractors that are entering into the industry.

“We want to continue attracting and engaging innovative thinkers and professionals who can provide solutions to the challenges of the industry,” Rayneau states, “That will help us create new value added products and services for our customers.”

One of these is the Stimulus Package. A unique national initiative with the aim to boost the economy providing a win-win situation between citizens, Government, construction and bank sectors, encouraging citizens and other interested parties to build and take advantage of a heavy structure of discounts on building materials, labour and banking preferential interest rates.

Benefitting those clients and new customers interested in construction, renovation or extension of properties, it will provide huge savings and significant discounts up to 60%, while working with a number of key business partners that RG Group have carefully selected.

“Winning in this game is easy. Just aim for more than mere satisfaction,” he concludes.
