IncisionAn incision is made along the side or in front of the hip. In mostcases the previous incision for the Primary Hip Replacement isused. The muscles, tendons and joint capsule are moved awayfrom the joint to expose the femoral head and acetabulum (hipsocket).

Removing Old ComponentsThe hip is positioned to expose the joint. The old femoral andacetabulum components are removed and the respective surfacesare cleaned out in preparation for the new replacementcomponents.

Securing Replacement PartsThe new replacement components are carefully and preciselysecured into position. Cement may or may not be used to securethe stem. A carefully fitted "ball" is secured to end of the femoralstem.

Rejoining the Hip JointThe hip joint is then rejoined and all surrounding tissues arerepaired back to the normal position.
