PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

40 years professional experience in the area of water and land resource development

and management at project level and at watershed/basin level. Out of this, more than eleven

years experience is at executive level in the field organizations and specialized Directorates of

Central Water Commission (Govt. of India) and twenty nine years experience in human

resource development for Afro-Asian countries (Afghanistan, Iraq, Ethiopia, Indonesia,

Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Srilanka, Yemen, Ghana, Tanzania, India etc). Professional

experience is geographically depicted below.

JUNE 2011 TO DECEMBER 2012:KABUL FOR UNITED NATION-FOOD AND

AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION: consultant( Intl Hydrologist & Water Resource

Management Specialist) in Emergency Irrigation Rehabilitation Project/ Irrigation Restoration

and Development Project , Kabul, Afghanistan from (a)15 June,2011 to 30 December,2011, (b)

14 January to 13 July,2012 and (c) 16August to 31 December,2012

2011: Kabul (Afghanistan) Three courses ( Drainage and Land Reclamation, Environmental

Impact Assessment, Watershed Management from8th December,2011 to 29 December,2011

FEB. 1983 TO CONTINUE (IIT ROORKEE, INDIA): The field experience gained at

executive level has been useful in research work on field problems related to irrigation,

hydropower and flood control and to impart job-oriented training to in-service professionals from

Afro-Asian countries at Department of Water Resources Development and Management. As

follow up of Bandung Conference (Indonesia) this premier training center (now department) was

established in 1955. Since its inception, more than 2220 engineers and scientists from Afro-

Asian countries have received their training at this center. I have contributed to fostering the

feeling of brotherhood among the engineers of various countries.

DEC. 1971 TO FEB. 1983 (CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION, GOVT. OF INDIA):

Selected as Class I Officer through All India Examination conducted by Union Public Service

Commission and joined service on 13.12.1971.Conducted investigations in Godavari and

Mahanadi basins and flood forecasting in Narmada basin. Flood forecasting for Hoshangabad

town and Tawa dam was a challenging assignment, which was handled successfully. Hydrologic

stations were installed, operated and data analyzed. Preparation of a perspective plan for

development of Ganga and Brahmaputra basins were the major assignments, completed during

this period.
