CAREER SUMMARY:
Over 27 years’ experience in the field of Facilities Maintenance and Project Management at the
Ottawa Hospital (General Campus, Civic Campus), University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI)
and Renfrew Country District School Board (RCDSB). I have acquired skills and experience in
all phases of construction; including scheduling, estimating, contract review and subcontractor
monitoring and also sat as the co-chair and certified member of the Joint Health and Safety
Committee. Have associated experience in; day to day maintenance requirements of building
operations, budget/cost control, negotiation of construction extras/claims, client liaison,
development of programs requirements, tendering, specification preparation, layout
preparation/presentation, proposal preparation for major construction projects, cost estimating,
site inspection, scheduling and management of unionized staff/construction workers.
WORK EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
RENFREW COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD (RCDSB)
PROJECT MANAGER (July 2015 to Present)
Madawaska Valley District High School Renovations – Estimated Project Cost $7.0 Million
This project involves the renovations of area of the existing high school (grades 9 – 12) to
introduce an elementary classroom wing (grades JK – 8)
The project will create new Science Classrooms, a new Visual Arts Classroom, a new Cooking
Lab, a new Cosmetology Classroom, a new Student Services area, as new Main Office Area, a
new Library space and a dedicated Elementary Classroom Wing c/w a new dedicated entrance.
The project has been broken down into 4 phases, each having a very specific completion date
which cannot be changed.
Phases 2 and 3 of construction are to be completed with the students in their respective
classrooms.
The project also has extensive exterior site work which includes, walkways, playgrounds,
parking areas and landscaping

PROJECT MANAGER (2007 TO January 2015)
UOHI Major Projects – Role and Highlights:
MRI/CTScan Equipment Installation – Total Project Cost – Approx $3.5 Million
This project involved the renovation of an existing area within the basement of the Heart Institute
for the installation of a MRI and CTScan equipment.
This project faced many challenges, including excavation within an existing building and
scheduling delays.
This project was completed within an area that saw no lost scheduled procedure time during the
construction phase

phases.
UOHI Levels 3, 4, 5 Patient Room Refurbishment – Total Project Cost $910K
This project involved the replacement of patient room washroom fixtures, over-bed lighting, pot
lights, new washroom floors and room painting.
This project saw the work completed in 69 patient rooms over a 60-day continuous schedule.
During the construction, each patient floor was occupied with exception to the areas being
renovated.

Infrastructure Renewal Program Project- Total Project Cost - Approx $10 Million
The project involved adding a new Air Handling Unit for the UOHI’s Life Support Area and its
associated infrastructure.
This project faced specific challenges regarding structure, permits and the specific location. The
project was completed with no area being closed during construction.
Managed Project from Implementation (construction, monitoring, and control) to Close Out
phases, including final submissions to the Ministry of Health for Cost Sharing.
UOHI Surgical Suites Project - Total Construction Cost - $1.2 Million
This project oversaw the construction of two state of the art Operating Theaters.
This project was completed on time and under budget without losing 1hr of scheduled operating
room time.

Electro Physiology (EP) Lab Project - Total Construction Cost - $1.7 Million
This project involved the creation of an EP suite (including the coordination of the equipment
installation) within the UOHI Life Support Area.

Catherization Labs 2 & 3 Project - Total Construction Cost - $2.0 Million
This project involved the removal of existing equipment, room retrofit and coordination of the
installation of new equipment, including all electrical and mechanical.
The major issue for project delivery was obtaining the Electrical Safety Inspection pass for
Equipment Installations.

Pacemaker Clinic Amalgamation/Relocation Project
This project involved consolidating several ambulatory care clinics and renovating existing
spaces to accommodate the moves.
This project had to be carried out to ensure no clinic time was lost during construction.
Project was on time and under budget.

Various equipment replacement, including room retrofits, $5m
Health and Safety upgrades (Emergency Eye Wash Stations and Emergency Shower Stations
Upgrading of medical gas lines, alarm panels and shutoff valves located in the ICU of the
UOHI.

OTTAWA HOSPITAL - CIVIC/GENERAL/RIVERSIDE CAMPUSES
RENOVATIONS COORDINATOR (2003 TO 2007)
Diagnostic Equipment (DI) Replacement Project - Total Project Cost - $5.7 Million
This project involved the removal of existing equipment, room retrofit and installation of new DI
equipment, including all electrical / mechanical requirements (7 imaging suites, 4 Angio Suites)
over the three campuses.
This project required the rectification of some major issues with the power requirements of the
equipment and the integration into the building infrastructure.

40 Bed In-Patient Ward Renewal
This project involved upgrades to all the patient rooms and associated areas, including medical
gases and nurse call systems

Pneumatic Tube Replacement - Total Project Cost - $5 Million
This project involved the replacement of the existing pneumatic tube system.
All components of this system were changed in this project.
Existing tubing was oval, new was 6” round, new piping routes needed to be found.
55 stations were replaced in 12 buildings at the Civic Campus.
