Re-enumeration was accomplished through phone interviews, dispatching additional field enumerators when necessary, and by use of several proprietary search engines.

This was a short-term position for the duration of the 2010 census.

1/06 TO 1/10: o ENROLLMENT SOLUTIONS – o INSURANCE BENEFIT ENROLLER –

Traveled throughout the Eastern United State conducting enrollments of core and supplemental insurance benefits (such as Disability, Accident, Dental & Life Insurance) with employee groups of national and regional employers.

Heavy on the customer service and listening skills to help them determine what is the best product for them.

Very high Annual Premium per diem (sometimes as much as $10k), high closing ratio, high retention.

6/01 – 11/05:

o “ THE TED YOUNG SHOW ” – RADIO TALK-SHOW HOST –

Hosted a radio call-in talk show on a Providence-Area radio station. Secured sponsors and developed an audience to discuss the state of political affairs in

the state of Rhode Island (always fertile ground)

9/62 to 4/01: o RIVERDALE CORPORATION –

PRESIDENT : Supervised the overall operation of family-entertainment centers until we sold the

business to a national chain. Having conducted extensive demographic research as to the optimum location for a new

facility, I designed and supervised the construction of a brand new facility in a new area for us.

I secured all licenses and permits, hired and trained a staff, and designed and implemented promotional campaigns.

The new facility was featured in Roller Skating Magazine, and set attendance and revenue records for a New England operation.

A Facebook page was created, almost 20 years after it closed, by over 800 former customers..

Managed public skating sessions, scheduled the help, ordered supplies, participated in the design and construction of new facilities.

9/60 TO 8/93: o PROFESSIONAL ROLLER SKATING COACH –

HEAD COACH – Coached numerous athletes to State, Regional, National and World Championships.

Conducted instructional sessions for individuals ranging in age from 4 to 84; and, for groups up to 435.

1/56 to 9/60: o SKATE MECHANIC –

Worked in the family business cleaning up and repairing skates. I learned to do the bookkeeping, perform HR functions, order the supplies, and type the

correspondence. I also learned to do title searches and review contracts for various properties that we were buying

and selling.

9/67 to 9/69: o UNITED STATES ARMY –

MILITARY POLICEMAN – As a member of the 115th Military Police Co, RI National Guard, I was activated during the

Vietnam War.

10/63 to 10/64: o DEFENSE MAPPING AGENCY (DoD) –

CARTOGRAPHER – Compilation of maps of sensitive foreign areas from clandestine sources. A “Top Secret” clearance would have been insufficient to gain entry to my department. Agency moved to the DC area and I elected to remain in RI

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

9/84 to 9/87: NORTHEAST REGIONAL CHAPTER, ROLLER SKATING RINK OPERATORS ASSOCIATION – CHAIRMAN – Elected Chairman of our regional trade association I conducted monthly meetings and seminars, as well as instituting an annual trade show. I also served as a guest lecturer, at other regional chapters across the country, on Customer Satisfaction (on the Tom Peters model), Revenue Enhancement and Profit Maximization. I was reelected to two more terms.

10/82 to 9/87: NEW ENGLAND SPEED SKATING LEAGUE – DIRECTOR – I assumed the leadership position in a league conducting monthly meets in various facilities throughout New England. I upgraded the awards, brought in higher-graded officials and tripled the membership.
