The next survey will be implementing in 2010 in the framework of this project.

Samling strategy
• Total number of households (HH) surveyed: 3.223 HH, of which • 1,338 old HH [also surveyed by the 2004 VHLSS in VARHS06]• 846 older HH [from Ha Tay, Phu Tho, Quang Nam, Long An also
surveyed in 2002 VHLSS, some in 2004 VHLSS and all in 2006 VARHS]
• 945 new HH [in Lai Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Dak Lak and Dak Nong]• 120 HH [replacements] • In 2008 report we use 1,338 HH [but other HH to be used for various
studies, in-depth studies, impact analysis related to ARD-SPS programme]
• The importance of panel data [control for unobserved household characteristics] + cross section analysis also possible
• Some dificulties in implementing survey and data analysis: The thick, comprehensive and complicated questionaire; detailed analysis data at different level of Individual, Household and Plot levels.
