Pastorrsquos Corner Dear Parishioners

Today is Respect Life Sunday and we reflect on the

gift of human life Itrsquos a gift to be cherished respected and

promoted to the fullest extent possible from womb to tomb

Next Saturday is the night for our annual Winter

Dinner Dance It is sold out We have a terrific team of volunteers

serving under the leadership of Arleen Pentildeaflor to ensure that this event is fantastic

and a lot of fun for all

A huge ldquoSo long farewell auf wiedersehen good byerdquo to a Holy Family rock

star who is departing the jewel city for the easterly pastures of Rancho Cucamonga

Rose Ann Queano Mohan Rose Ann is an icon of Holy Family and in the past she

has worked for the parish for decades in a number of different capacities including

her service as money counter chief head of altar society and environment team All

the best Rose Ann and we hope you visit us often

I strongly encourage you to consider attending a special conference being

hosted by Holy Family On Thursday February 2 we are offering a free

informational seminar to explain the process of Catholic estate and personal financial

planning Donrsquot miss out Please see page 4 of the bulletin for details

Thank you to those who participated in the ldquoCapacity Studyrdquo process either

via personal interviews or by taking part in the ldquoin pewrdquo process in November 2016

This study was conducted by CCS a professional capital campaign company to

determine what they gauge we are capable of raising in terms of dollars of funds for

future building projects particularly for a much needed parish center Details on the

results of the process are forthcoming in the near future Thanks for your patience

In the meantime I feel that I need to do a better job of communicating a few things

about the needs and the vision as put together by our Real Property Committee and

Pastoral Council over the years I plan to do so over time and in various ways

First what is the matter with our current parish office (the old rectory) Our

current parish office is poorly constructed and way too small It is a victim of 1970s

cheap construction and we have been advised not to sink another dollar into the

building as it can only serve us short term It is so small that some of our paid staff

personnel have to work at the grade school in classrooms over there Others have to

work at the Life Teen house Thus as crazy as it may sound your paid staff

members do not even work together In addition we have a few very small meeting

rooms however we have none that are medium sized to meet the needs of many of

our ministries and gatherings Thus we would like to tear down the current parish

office and make the whole area (lawn included) available for parking We would

finally finally have some parking spaces adjacent to the church (other than the lucky

few who find one on the street) This newly envisioned parking lot would include

many ADA parking spots and would enhance the security of those who visit our

Adoration Chapel in the evenings and at night [To be continued next week]

OUR LADY OF

LOURDES GROTTO

MAINTENANCE

You might wonder why

did we remove the

morning glory vine off the

grotto Over the years the

vine has become

overgrown and created an

18 inch dead

undergrowth that creates dirty water in the fountain and stains on the

statues of our Blessed Mother and Saint Bernadette The vines have been

cut back to the ground and will eventually grow back We have cleaned

the stone and statues The grotto is still beautiful with the temporary

absence of the vine

Effective January 2017 Holy Family

Parish offices and the main parking lot

are closed at 7 PM every Friday

Main Parking Lot gates close at 9 PM

from Monday to Thursday and 7 PM

from Friday to Sunday

OUR LADY OF

LOURDES GROTTO

MAINTENANCE

You might wonder why

did we remove the

morning glory vine off the

grotto Over the years the

vine has become

overgrown and created an

18 inch dead

undergrowth that creates dirty water in the fountain and stains on the

statues of our Blessed Mother and Saint Bernadette The vines have been

cut back to the ground and will eventually grow back We have cleaned

the stone and statues The grotto is still beautiful with the temporary

absence of the vine

Effective January 2017 Holy Family

Parish offices and the main parking lot

are closed at 7 PM every Friday

Main Parking Lot gates close at 9 PM

from Monday to Thursday and 7 PM

from Friday to Sunday
