Quotations: Copying someone else’s exact words and surrounding them with quotation marks “ ”.
Paraphrase: Putting someone else’s words or ideas into your own words. No quotation marks are necessary, but you must still give the author credit!
Plariarism: Using someone else’s words or ideas without giving them credit. You MUST create a parenthetical citation after the quote or paraphrase and have a Works Cited page at the end of your paper with the citation for that source, or you are guilty of plagiarism.

Go to http://destiny.aisd.net and click on Martin High School.
Click on the catalog tab at the top to search for your topic using key words or
Scroll down to find the databases.
Write down title & call number.
Then check the shelve

Call number prefixes: Number = nonfiction section F = Fiction section Ask for help if necessary! REF = reference section B = Biography section
Click on Home tab & scroll down to access the databases.
To access the databases, go to http://destiny.aisd.net, click on Martin H.S.
and scroll down.

Good for finding background information
• Databases have journal, book, newspaper, and book articles that aren’t available on the internet.
• Information is reliable • Advanced search feature• You know exactly where the information came from. • Databases usually give you the citation which means less
work for you though you need to proofread it or use Easybib.com to check it for proper format, especially Facts on File’s citations. Citations are found at the bottom of the citation or click on the link to it. Ask the librarian if you need help finding or exporting a citation.
