HSC R&D Directors Fund
Priorities
• To increase investment in research that delivers improvements in health and social care in Northern Ireland and beyond – Direct investment from HSC R&D Fund
– Increase in HSC R&D Fund
– Increased leverage through partnership/consortia
– Increased grant acquisition by NI researchers from external sources eg NETSCC
– Increased investment from private sector in health & social care research
Early wins
• Launch of HSC R&D Strategy • Clear implementation plan flowing from HSC R&D Strategy • Effective knowledge exchange between all key stakeholders
including all HSC, Universities, industry, service users & public • Building effective partnerships with other funders of health
and social care research • Targeted, collaborative proposals for both structural and
competitive EU funding and other funding sources • Better use of routinely collected datasets for research
through Honest Broker Service, ADRC • Build on relationships with commercial sector to demonstrate
successful delivery of research in Northern Ireland
It’s OK to Ask in NI In 2013-14 HSC R&D Division will : • Tell patients and the
public that ‘It’s OK to Ask about clinical research’
• Ensure that HSC professionals know how & where to signpost those who ask the question
• Listen to feedback so that we know what response was received by people who asked
