570 SCC & TECH SPECIFICATION 0 AU ____________ _________ANNUAL RATE CONTRACT FOR ELECTRICAL WORK AT GAIL KHERA

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT CONDITIONS:-

1.Contractor must possess valid Electrical Contractors license (valid in Madhya Pradesh).2.The contractor shall deploy necessary number of #skilled# Electricians and unskilled manpower.3.Contractor shall deploy a Supervisor having qualification as per E-I-C guideline and having ElectricalSupervisor License from State Government. He should also possess minimum of two years of experiencefor supervision in an Industry. Copy of certificates and license are to be submitted before commencementof work.4.Before deploying any personnel, the Contractor should take permission from Engineer-in-charge. Thecontractor shall have detailed bio-data of all personnel deployed by him and shall submit the copies ofqualifications for the satisfaction of Engineer-in-charge.5.Contractor has to provide sufficient manpower at general shift hours (09:15-17:45) for dailymaintenance. However in case job is not completed, manpower should continue till 2100 hrs for the jobwith the prior permission of competent authority.6.For transportation of heavy materials inside the plant premises, vehicle, fork lift and trolleys will beprovided by GAIL free of cost.7.All types of spares and consumable shall be provided by GAIL.8.Contactors are required to arrange their own general tools and common measuring instruments (such aspliers, screw driver set, multimeters, hammer, set of Allen keys, portable drill machine with drill bits etc)required for day to day maintenance activities. However special tool if required any (such as ladder, poweranalyzer, DC clamp meter, Bearing puller etc) shall be provided by GAIL.9.Contactor has to arrange their own conveyance for to and fro transportation upto KHERA Compressorstation which is about 55 Kms away from UJJAIN City (M.P.)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Connectors Lugs :Cable terminations shall be made with aluminum/tinned copper crimped type solderless lugs of suitablesize. Crimping shall be done after applying corrosion inhibiting compound on the conductor. Insulation ofthe leads should be removed for the crimping.

Cable Glands :Cable glands to be supplied shall be nickel plated/GI single/double compression type as per the approvalof EIC. Double compression type shall be used for outdoor locations. Glands for classified hazardousareas shall be certified by CMRS. For non-hazardous area, the glands shall have screwed nipple withconduit electrical threads, and check nut.

PVC Conduit Pipes :PVC Conduit pipes shall be of medium duty type and conform to IS : 9537 part-III. Approved makes are :-PRECISION, NATIONAL.

PVC Flexible wires :PVC insulated flexible multi strand copper wires , 650 V voltage grade and ISI marked conforming to IS :694 shall be used for all building wiring. Approved makes for PVC wires are :- FINOLEX , RRKABEL ,HAVELLS , INCAB.

PVC CASING AND CAPPING :Approved makes are : PRECISION , ANCHOR.

Wiring :Wires carrying current shall be so bunched in the conduit that the outgoing and return wires are drawing

Wires originating from two different phases shall not be run in the same conduit.The drawing and joining of copper conductor wires shall be executed with due regard to the followingprecautions :-While drawing insulated wires into the conduits, special care shall be taken to avoid scratches which causebreakage of conductors. There shall be no sharp bends. The conduits shall be clean and free of anyobstruction, dirt etc.Insulation shall be shaved off for a length of 15 mm at the end of wire like sharpening of a pencil and itshall not be removed by cutting it square of wiring. PVC insulated copper conductor wire ends beforeconnection shall be properly soldered ( at least 15 mm length) with suitable soldering material. Strands ofwires shall not be cut for connecting terminals.The pressure applied to tighten terminals, screws shall be just adequate, neither too much nor too less.Only certified and licensed wiremen and cable jointers shall be employed for wiring and jointing work.Colour code shall be maintained for the entire wiring installation - Red, Yellow, Blue for the three phases,Black for the neutral and Green for earth.Each circuit shall have independent Phase, neutral and earth wire.All wires shall bear manufacturer's label and brought to site in new and original packings.

Cable Laying :Directly buried cables shall be laid underground in excavated cable trenches having sufficient depth andwidth for accommodation. Minimum depth of buried cable trench shall be 750 mm for low voltage and900 mm for H.V cables. The depth and width of the trench shall vary depending upon the number of layersof cables.

Before cables are placed, the trenches bottom shall be filled with a layer of sand. This sand shall beleveled and cables laid over it. These cables shall be covered with 150 mm of sand on top of the cable andsand shall be lightly pressed. A protective covering of 75 mm thick second class red bricks shall be laidflat. The remainder of the trench shall then be back-filled with soil, rammed and leveled.As each row of cables is laid in place and before covering with sand ,every cable shall be given aninsulation test in the presence of EIC. Any cable which proves defective shall be replaced.Where cables rises from trenches to poles, they shall be taken in GI pipes for mechanical protection up toa minimum of 300 mm above ground or as per directions of EIC.Cable ends shall be carefully pulled through the conduits to prevent damage to the cable. Where cableenters the conduit the cable should be bent in large radius.After the cables are installed and all testing is complete, conduit ends above ground shall be plugged witha suitable weather proof compound/PUTTI for sealing purpose. The cost for the same shall be deemed tohave been included in the installation of G.I pipe and no separate payment shall be allowed.At road crossing and other places where cables enter pipe sleeves adequate bed of sand shall be given sothat the cables do not slack and get damaged by the pipe ends.All G.I pipes with bends shall be buried in soil/concrete in such a way that the bends shall be totallyconcealed. For G.I pipes buried in soil. Bitumen coating shall be applied on the buried lengths. The openends of the pipe shall be suitably plugged with GI plugs/suitable compound.Route marker shall be provided at the gap of 20 mtr and at turning point and road crossing along the cabletrenches after backfilling. For cable laying on tray, tag with appropriate labels (as provided by E-I-C) shallbe provided at every 50 mtr distances, at both ends, all bends and all points where cable enters into trench.

EARTHING:

All earth electrodes shall preferably be driven to a sufficient depth to reach permanently moist soil.Electrode shall preferably be situated in a soil which has fine texture & which is packed by watering &ramming as tightly as possible. B)Earthing Strip : The earthing strip shall be hot dipped galvanized GI flat confirming to IS standard. If itis to be laid under ground, it should be laid at a depth of minimum 500 mm or if possible it is to be laid inthe cable trenches. If the strip is to be laid on the concrete, it should be properly fastened by suitable

LIGHTING POLES :Lighting poles shall be fabricated from seamless pipes with joints swaged together when hot and beveledon outside edges. The poles shall be coated with bituminous preservative solution throughout on the insidesurface and on the ground portion of the outside surface. Remainder of the outside surface shall be givenone coat of red oxide primer and finished with two coats of Aluminium paints. Paints shall be of reputedmakes and approved by EICThe lighting poles shall be supplied with M.S base plate 300X300X10mm, GI riser pipes for cable entryand 50X6mm GI earth flats and grouted to the concrete foundation. The foundation concrete shall be 1:3:6(1 cement:3 coarse sand:6 gravel stone aggregate 40mm size).. The dimensions of poles shall be matchedwith existing poles as far as possible. The lighting poles shall be erected so that they match with the heightof the existing street lighting poles. Lighting poles shall conform to the latest version of IS 2713

PAINTING :

Painting shall be done after thorough surface preparation i.e the surface to be painted is made free fromdirt, dust, any foreign matter and all rough spots, and cleaned & made smooth. The surface must beperfectly dry before painting is commenced. The surface shall be thoroughly cleaned with wire brush tomake it free from loose scales, rust oil etc. Wherever necessary one or two coat of primer of approvedmake is to be applied before application of Synthetic/Aluminum/Acid resistant paint. The surface shall bedried before application of primer or subsequent coats of paint. Minimum two coats ofsynthetic/aluminum paint are to be applied. Additional finishing coat shall be applied if found necessary toensure a proper uniform glossy surface. The lettering is to be done wherever any script is written on thesurface. Paints and Primer should be of reputed manufacturer's make and are to be approved by EIC.

TESTING & COMMISSIONING :

1. Measuring of insulation resistance of each circuit.2. Current and voltage of all the phases shall be measured. If required, loads shall be balanced on allthe tree phases.3. Resistance of individual electrode shall be measured after disconnecting it from the grid.4. Resistance of grid shall be measured after connecting the electrodes.

5. If any electrical item supplied by the contractor fails during commissioning same is to be made OKwithout any extra cost.
