Subject: Training-Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Education for Promotion Schools

Date: May 3,2016

1. This Office in partnership with SEEDS Asia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)will conduct a Training-Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR} Education for PromotionSchools on May 15 to 20,2016. The said activity will be conducted in Hagnaya Beach Resort andRestaurant, Brgy. Hagnaya, San Remegio, Cebu.

2. The objectives of the said Training-Workshop are the following:

• build participants' knowledge on various DRR-related concepts including DRR terms,global and local policies on DRR Education, mechanisms of natural hazards, its risks andimpacts, and preparedness measures;

• undergo hands-on, experiential learning on the 21 DRR Education Activities;

• discuss the DRR Education Goals from Kindergarten to Grade 10 including the DRREducation Integration Matrix;

• explain the iPlan writing process including the tools needed and the integration of DRR

Education into lessons;

• integrate DRR Education activities (when applicable) to the existing iPlans; and

• critique iPlans with DRR Education integration.

3. Participants from the Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of Danao City, Cebu Province, Cebu City,Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, Carcar City, Toledo City and Naga City and the seven(7) selected DRR Education Promotion Schools are required to pre-register online at:http://tinyurl.coin/drr-pronnischools before May 13, 2016. (See attached Program ScheduleMatrix, list of trainers and participants for your reference).

4. Trainers and participants are advised to arrive at the venue in the afternoon of May 15,2016(Day 0). Teacher-participants are entitled to 5-day Service Credits while those who are non-teaching personnel will be given one (1) day Compensatory Time Off (CTO). First meal to beserved is dinner of May 15th and full board meals on May 16-20, 2016 with the last meal aspacked dinner on May 20th.

5. Below is the list of required materials to be brought by the participants:

• One (1) Data Projector with HDMI/VGA cable and extension cords (per Division/School)• Laptop (per participant)• Instructional Plan (iPlan)/lesson plan with DRR-related Learning Competency (per

participant)• Curriculum Guide (depending on Grade Level being taught)• 1 empty soda can, preferably any can of beer or Monster Energy Drink (per participant)• 1/2 cup of rice (per participant)• Umbrella/cap for sun protection during outdoor activities

6. Traveling and other incidental expenses of participants will be charged to Division/SchoolMaintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) funds while expenses for meals and boardand lodging shall be shouldered by JICA/SEEDS Asia. All are subject to the usual accounting andauditing rules and regulations.

7. This Memorandum serves as Travel Order.

8. Immediate dissemination of and compliance with this Memorandum to all concerned isdirected.
