President’s Pen

Texans across the state spoke up loudly at our Primary. We enjoyed a historic turnout this year and that is fantastic but our work is not over. With municipal elections coming up it’s important to remember that our City Council and School Board members today are likely to be our State Senators and Representatives tomorrow. Our actions (or inaction) at the polls on Election Day will determine the men and women who make decisions on our behalf for many years to come. It’s a big responsibility and one we should not take lightly. So please, do your homework, ask questions, and attend forums where you can meet the candidates and get educated on the issues. Then take your friends and family and VOTE on May7th!

Our Primary also resulted in a couple of very important run-off races. The elections for RR Commissioner, Court of Criminal Appeals Judge (places 2 & 5), State Rep. HD33, and 416th District Court Judge will be on a run-off ballot on May 24th. And by then we’ll know if we have any run-offs triggered by the municipal elections. Yes my friends, its election season, and we are so blessed to live in country where we have the freedom to not only choose our own government, but to openly disagree with it with no fear of reprisal. The day we cease to involve ourselves in the electoral process is the day we tell the world that freedom is no longer important to us. Please God, Not in my lifetime and NEVER in Texas! #RWGNT #TFRWLeads

Thank you for the honor of serving you,

Glynis Chester

Campaign Hours It is now time to submit your volunteer campaign hours for the first quarter of 2016. This can be done very easily by going to the Republican Women of Greater North Texas website. On the home page, on the left hand side under our logo there are three bars showing status of member-ship goals, campaign hours, and events. Beneath that, it says "Submit your volunteer hours." Just type in your name and email address, select the correct reporting pe-riod, and then enter number of hours and hit "submit" button. If you have questions about how to calculate your volunteer hours, you can find that information on the website as well. On the home page, go to the heading "about." Expand that heading and go to "forms and links." This will bring up another list and you will find a form called, "counting campaign hours." The information there will help you to determine what activities can be reported, and remember, just about anything you do in connection with RWGNT counts as time that can be reported. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My email address is [email protected]. Campaign hours for the first quarter are due no later than April 1st.
