The JAG Center for Professional development intends to conduct a 4 -Day InternationalSeminar-Workshop on Campus Journalism of the 21st Century on the dates and venue listedbelow;
January 21-24,2016 - DepEd ECOTECH, Cebu City
Relative thereto, I would like to request for your approval and Regional Advisory inviting allyour teachers in your Region.
I. Theme: Campus Journalism :Local Writing for Global Competence
II. Objectives:The conference aims to:1. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of Journalism by expressing it
through different journalistic endeavors and approaches;2. Sustain advocacy on social consciousness;3. Provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students interested
in pursuing journalism as a career;4. Promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media; and5. Enhance journalistic competence through lectures, activities, workshops, and
materials that will equip the campus journalist of relevant skills, techniquesand information as they prepare for intrascholastic journalism-relatedactivities like seminars, workshops and competitions.
III. Target Participants: Grade 3-10 pupils/students ,Preschool, Grade 1-10 teachers,school heads, English Coordinators, supervisors, education students andprofessors/instructors teaching journalism
IV. Registration Fee: P5,000.00 for Teachers/Coaches and P3,000.00 for students tocover seminar fee, kit materials, one (1) lunch and 2 snacks per day. This activity will be attended by faculty and students involved in campus journalism programs ofhigher education institutions.
Participation of officials, employees and students from private higher education institutions(HEIs) shall be VOLUNTARY. • As a writer and journalist for 15 years, he has written various features, critical reviews, press releases andthe like for a number of publication outfits like Cruising #GoingPlaces Magazine, Experience Travel &Living Magazine, PTS (Pinoy Tayo Saanman), Art Manila Quarterly, The Daily Tribune, The ManilaBulletin, and many others. He has written on topics like traveling, theater, film, entertainment, fine arts,literature and opinion and has interviewed various personalities on a variety of topics.
