REPORT ON INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR ENGINEERING BATCH 2018-19

Ujjain Engineering College, Ujjain (MP), organised an induction program for first year students of 4-year B tech

degree course on 20th August 2018 to 31st August 2018. Dr Umesh Pendarkar Principal ,Dr Atul Sthapak Vice

principal and Chief Warden, Dr sunil Punjabi Dean academic and TEQUIP Coordinator, Dr J palsania Dean

DSW, Dr B K Sing Controller Examinations , Prof Ravi Nagaich, Prof Ashok K Sharma& Prof. Sanjay Verma

Induction programme coordinator and all HOD’s started programme by Lamp lighting in front of godess

sarswati. Principal delivered the inaugural address in the Sir Vishveswariya Hall and welcomed the students and

advised them with their words of wisdom. Principal has also given tips to the students to become responsible

and good citizen of India. Prof Sunil Punjabi in his speech informed the students about the various qualities they

need to inculcate in themselves in order to become good engineers. Dr B K Singh encouraged the students and

informed them about scheme of examination system, how to make a study time table and follow it. Prof J

Palsania addressed the students about role and responsibility of engineers and importance of communication and

technology. Prof Atul Sthapak inspired and highlighted the responsibilities of engineering students. Prof Ravi

Nagaich appreciated the efforts and gesture of UEC in conducting such informative and effective program first

of its kind to groom and nurture young engineering students to mould students fraternity in the days to come.

Prof Ashok k Sharma informed the participants to fully utilize the inputs to impart better learning methodology.

It was an Inspiring session where first year students were highlighted by the respective HOD’s with all kind of

facilities and state of art technology available for them in the Institute.

The aim of the programme was to give the students who are joining the college a bird’s eye view about various

dimensions of engineering and the career opportunities for the engineering students and to acquaint them with

the systems and procedures of the college and to ensure that every student feels welcomed, engaged and excited

to begin this new important stage in their education. The idea was to show them the path they have adopted to in

order to become successful engineers.

The speakers included a mix of internal and external resources and following topics were covered in the

induction program: Motivational talks by eminent personalities from the fields of social, spiritual, academic,

environmental science, technology, time management, yoga and meditation, communication & leadership skill,

interpersonal skills, stress management, group dynamics and team building, field visits, sports, Examination

Skills and New Dimensions of engineering.

Padmshree Dr Janak McGilligan Palta graced the Induction programme on 30th August 2018 as a social

engineer.She made the students understand about the basics of engineering and advised them to have an

interdisciplinary approach while learning and applying their knowledge for the cause of welfare of deprived

section of societies.

There was icebreaking sessions on fun, to know each others, team building, interactions with senior students and

free hand poster making competitions. The sessions were well received by the students.

Dr Rajeshwar Musalgaonkar Shashtri professor and head department of Shanskrit and Jyotish Vigyan graced the

valedictory function on 31st August 2018 as the Chief Guest. He elaborated on the uniqueness of our culture,

moral values, freedom of speech, the world today and the value of a good education while stressing on the need

for well qualified and motivated professionals.

The Programme ended with the summary of activities presented by Prof Ashok K Sharma and vote of thanks

proposed by Prof Ravi Nagaich. The entire programme was anchored by Prof Sanjay Verma.

Team Induction programme coordinator UEC-Ujjain would like to express their gratitude to the TEQUIP,

Deans, HOD’s all teaching, non teaching, supporting staff and the students of first year course for their kind

cooperation in this novel cause.
