Tonight’s Game: The Aces welcome the Albuquerque Isotopes to town to play game one of a four-game series Friday night at Aces Ballpark. The two teams split their season-opening four-game set in Albuquerque, with the Aces winning games one and three in the series. Tonight, right-hander Allen Webster starts for the Aces against right-hander Chad Bettis. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PST.

Yesterday’s Game: The Aces never led last night in the series finale at El Paso, splitting their second straight four-game set after a 10-4 loss. The Chihuahuas jumped on Reno lefty Justin Marks in the second inning for six runs. Marks settled in afterwards, retiring the next nine batters. During that span, the Aces cut their deficit in half, thanks to a 2-run double by Peter O’Brien in the third and a RBI single by O’Brien in the fifth. In the home half of the fifth, Marks was forced to exit after allowing a walk and a single, hand-ing over to right-hander Julio DePaula who didn’t fare much better. El Paso scored four total runs in the fifth, extending their lead to 10-3. The Aces got one run in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t nearly enough in the 10-4 defeat.

Chad Bettis: Bettis gets the ball for the Isotopes in game one of the four-game series. The right-hander is making his second appear-ance -- both vs. Reno -- this season after splitting 2014 between Triple-A Colorado Springs and the Rockies. Reno roughed up the righty over 4 2/3 innings, scoring five times on five hits and two walks last Saturday in a 7-3 Aces win. With the Sky Sox, Bettis was 3-4 with a 3.09 ERA in 20 games (5 starts), spanning 55 1/3 innings. At Colorado, Bettis was 0-2 with a 9.12 ERA in 21 games, all out of the bullpen. Opposing batters battered Bettis to the tune of a .378 average against. In his Minor League career, Bettis is 24-14 with a 2.94 ERA in 72 games (56 starts). The Rockies drafted Bettis in the second round out of Texas Tech in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. He missed the entire 2012 season due to a right shoulder injury.

O’Brien Doubling Down: OF Peter O’Brien recorded two doubles last night in a 3-for-4, 3-RBI performance, giving him four doubles on the young season. That mark is tied for second most among PCL players, trailing only Oklahoma City’s Kyle Jensen who has six thus far.

Let’s Have A Catch: The catching duo of Blake Lalli and Matt Pagnozzi has been superb so far this season. In five games, the Aces’ primary catcher, Lalli, is hitting .300 (6-for-20) with 4 RBI and 3 walks, good for a .391 OBP, second highest among PCL catchers who qualify with the necessary amount of at-bats per game. Lalli’s backup, Pagnozzi, has outperformed Reno’s starter at the plate, going 5-for-12 (.417) with 1 homer, 1 triple, 1 RBI and 1 walk.

Jamie’s (not) Cryin’: Oh...woah...woah...Jamie’s raking. The Aces’ leadoff man, Jamie Romak, has been one of the league’s toughest outs so far. The 29-year-old is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with 10 runs (T-2nd, PCL), 2 RBI, 1 HR and 8 walks (2nd). His .462 on-base percentage is fourth among PCL players to appear in eight games.

Top Prospects: The Aces had four players on their Opening Day roster who are ranked in the top-30 prospects by Baseball America. OF/3B Yasmany Tomás head-lined the group as the No. 4 prospect in the organization and No. 57 overall in all of

baseball before his call up Wednesday. OF Peter O’Brien is No. 8, LHP Robbie Ray sits at No. 11 and closer Jake Barrett is right behind Ray at No. 12.

We’ve Been There: 16 players on Reno’s Opening Day roster have Major League ex-perience following the promotion and eventual debuts of right-hander A.J. Schugel and 3B/OF Yasmany Tomás. Nine of the 16 are pitchers, including all five from the Opening Day rotation.

This Date in Aces HistoryThe Aces are 2-4 all-time on April 17, with wins

coming in 2009 (11-1 vs. Salt Lake) and 2013 (8-7 vs. Colorado Springs). In 2013, the Aces completed one of their most memorable comebacks, rallying from a 7th-inning, 7-0 deficit. Chris Owings hit a solo home

run to get the Aces on the board in the 7th. Reno then plated three more runs in the 8th before scoring four

in the 9th, the last two coming on Matt Davidson’s 2-run, one-out, walk-off single.

Danny Worth and Garrett Weber have the longest active hitting streaks for Reno,

both riding four gamers entering tonight. Worth is hitting .313 (5-for-16) and Weber

.250 (4-for-16) during their stretches.

CAN I GET AN ENCORE? The Aces are under the direction of Manager Phil Nevin for the second consecutive season. In his first season with the Aces, he guided them to a

franchise-tying-best record of 81-63. His squad won the Pacific North Division and Pacific Conference Championship Series before falling 3 games to 2

in the PCL Championship Series to Omaha. Prior to his stint with the Aces, Nevin spent three seasons

(2011-13) at the helm of the Toledo Mud Hens of the International League. Nevin is the second manager

Tonight’s Starter: Right-hander Allen Webster starts for the Aces in the home opener against the Isotopes. The right-hander is in his first season with the Diamondbacks’ organization after being acquired from the Boston Red Sox in a 4-player trade on December 12, 2014. Webster has a career Major League record of 6-5 with a 6.25 ERA in 19 games (18 starts). In 152 Minor League games, Web-ster is 46-33 with a 3.40 ERA. Webster split 2014 between Boston (5-3, 5.03) and Triple-A Pawtucket (4-4, 3.10).

Major-League Debut: Webster made his Major League debut in a start against the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park on April 21, 2013. He allowed a run in the first inning but settled in to record a quality start. Webster allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits over six innings. He struck out five and did not factor into the decision.

Last Outing: Webster’s last outing came at Albuquerque this past Sunday when he lasted just three innings. He served up six runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out a pair. Webster took a no-decision in Reno’s eventual 16-10 loss.

Against the Isotopes: As stated above, Webster faced the Iso-topes five days ago in his Aces and Pacific Coast League debut. In one start vs. Albuquerque, he is 0-0 with an 18.00 ERA.
