Birthday parties in school

We respectfully ask parents to refrain from celebrating birthdays during the school day.

‘Parties’ should be held outside the school day.

There are a number of celebrations that can be acknowledged in class in a variety of ways beyond ‘parties.’

Conferencing with the teachersThere are times when parents wish to conference with

the class teachers. We would ask that all parents use the appropriate communication channels to arrange times to meet with staff. Teachers cannot have a conference/discussion with you at certain times - they are responsible for 27 other students as well as your child.

Share the ‘good news’ not just the ‘bad.’Use email carefully. More than 5 sentences may mean it

is better to arrange a meeting. If you need a Chinese interpreter we can arrange this for

you. Alternatively, you can have a member of your family provide a Chinese translation if needed.

We do have ‘formalized’ conference times but these also include the students – at RCHK they are an important part of the conference process.
