About Us Remote Printworks is a printing company unique to the UK! We are used by many disciplines, students and businesses including architects, graphic designers, adverting agencies and marketing firms Whether it is an architectural blueprint, a sales/marketing pitch or a university presentation, Remote Printworks can accommodate your requirements. We can fulfil orders from a single sheet to a full portfolio of hundreds of images. If your work is submitted to us by noon, your order is shipped the next working day, at the very latest.* Over the years, we have focused on providing an outstanding service to students studying Architecture, Media & other schools which require the highest quality in technical drawing, and our prices have always remained competitive! We are approached by a number of students studying architecture, and we appreciate the end of project panic; and we will do our very best to help you. Booklets, Handbooks & Brochures

From dissertations & theses for undergraduates and doctorate students, to Health and Safety & employee handbooks for firms, manuals and handbooks such as these cover approximately 35% of our total business at Remote Printworks. Most companies who approach us for this sort of work usually require a few updates to their current documents and some require a complete re-design. We can bring documents up to date and we stay in contact with our clients throughout the design process. A normal re-design will see between 20 and 25 drafts before print and you get a copy of every single one so there’s no chance of “oh, I wish I’d chosen that font instead” happening. When you choose Remote Printworks to edit, re-design and/or print your work, you will keep the first person you speak to as your ‘go-to-guy’, so you don’t have to worry about too many people doing different tasks. You can see below an example of one of our clients who came to us requiring a complete re-design of their handbooks. The handbooks are used by the charity Safety Net’s practitioners who work with children and young people. Once re-designed and approved by the client, the books were printed, bound, shipped and they are now being sold due to their durability and professional look. It certainly beats the staple in the top left corner that we saw when the books first arrived in our offices. Value Added Tax

Value Added Tax (VAT) is applicable on some paper products and not on others. It can be quite a confusing system, as there are many situations where certain VAT rules apply, where others do not. Rest assured that we will work out whether you need to pay VAT or not, so all the confusing work is taken care of. The following VAT rules set out by HMRC apply:

i. A leaflet/flyer is designed to be handed out, read by one person and then discarded. If you intend for your prospective customer to retain the leaflet/flyer, then your order is VAT applicable.

ii. VAT will not be charged on leaflets/flyers under 250gsm unless: a. The product is to be used for data collection: “Please fill in your name and email” b. The product is to be used for data production: “Your next appointment is on…” c. The product is to be used for entry at a later date: “Keep this flyer for free admission” d. The product has no expiry date: “Events held all year round” e. The product has an expiry date: “Visit our exhibition from 12TH June – 1ST July” f. The product implies a discount is kept: “Save 25% with this flyer” g. If you are a VAT registered person or business, the VAT can be reclaimed in your next VAT

return iii. If an item is A2 or larger, it is deemed to be for public display and VAT must be charged, even if

it is only to be used by one person (we’re sorry, but that’s HMRC making this rule, not us) iv. If an item is to be held in the hand (flyer) then VAT is not applicable, providing it meets the

conditions in point ii. v. Business cards are designed to advertise a person, company, group and/or (but not limited to)

services, skills, products (whether VAT applicable or not). They are printed (normally) on a paper with a higher weight (350gsm or above) than that of most common paper stocks (150gsm or below) and are therefore VAT applicable.

vi. Where at least 50 copies of a flyer or other media are ordered, they are deemed to be for mass distribution and are therefore VAT applicable. Where 50 copies or more are ordered, and the product does NOT meet any of the conditions in point ii. then the product will not be applicable for VAT.

Well, that’s our take on it. These rules are set out by HMRC and not us, so we have to abide by them. We will let you know whether or not your order is to be VAT applicable, so that you do not have to worry about working out how to design your work. We will check your work against the aforementioned conditions and inform you of any VAT charges that need to be applied. Virus Scanning & File Formats WE DO NOT CHARGE YOU TO SCAN YOUR FILES FOR VIRUSES!

Some printers, who claim to offer a competitively priced service, charge a large fee to scan your submitted files for viruses. We will NEVER charge you to scan your files, and we will NEVER add any extra fees to your final invoice without informing you first, in very exceptional circumstances. We will check your files for malicious content (spyware, ad-ware, malware, viruses) but we will never charge you for a service, such as this, that takes only a few seconds and certainly shouldn't cost you a penny. So you can rest assured that our prices remain as stated on this page. You can use our submission page to send your work to us. Just use the password "remoteprintworks" when asked. Everyone is different and everyone has different requirements for their printing. That's why we don't restrict your submissions to a narrow selection of file types. If you're a games artist, send us your files in their normal 3DS Max format. If you're an architect, send your files to us directly from Autodesk, Maya, Rhinoceros, Sketchup or whatever program you are using. We will take any file sent to us as is, so if you're working in complex file formats, or if you just want us to print a JPEG or PDF, we will oblige. For products such as flyers, business cards and large posters, we will check for any spelling or grammatical errors in the images and advise you on whether the image should be re-drawn. This is a free service, and we believe that if you are spending money on something, it should be done right. You will probably find that other printers will charge you for such as service, however we don’t believe that reading should cost anything. For products such as reports or brochures, we recommend that you ensure that your document is correct before sending it to us because as nice as we are with this sort of thing, we will not proof read 150 pages.

Delivery

Due to our location, we are able to service a large number of clients with same day deliveries. This means that your orders would be delivered by hand to your chosen destination in Zone 1 or 2. We feel that this works well, as this also allows for last-minute orders to be delivered on time, rather than adding 24 hours to our lead time.

If you require your order to be delivered to a location in either Zone 1 or 2, we can deliver this for you ourselves, at a very low rate. Orders delivered to Zone 1 carry a £2.00 surcharge, and orders for Zone 2 carry a £5.00 surcharge. Orders dispatched in this way will be delivered by 5pm (if placed before 11am and under 10 pages).

Student Pricing Our students typically come from courses based around the design & arts schools with courses such as Architecture, Art, Graphic Design & Planning, however we also receive a large number of orders from students studying Computer Science and other scientific courses. During the months leading up to dissertation hand-in, we are asked to print and bind dissertations from Universities across the country, due to our reasonably priced services and our fast delivery methods. We were all students in the past here at Remote Printworks so we know that most prints are required at the last minute. With our amazingly fast delivery, we can get your order to you the next day*1, and the same day if you are in our catchment area. If you have a valid NUS card and are currently an undergraduate in the UK, you can claim a student discount of 20% on all of our products and services over £10. In order to offer this service we check the NUS Card number that you give us with the National Union of Students, so that we can make sure the service is not being abused. By submitting Your file(s) to us, You are agreeing that You have taken all reasonable measures to ensure that Your file(s) are malicious software free. Should We find any evidence of malicious software contained in Your file(s), We will not print Your work. We will inform You immediately by telephone that Your file(s) are infected, and We will help You to submit your work through other means. 4 Force Majeure We will not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under a Contract that is caused by events outside our reasonable control (“Force Majeure Event”). There will be an additional charge for delivery. Remote Printworks ships all its orders via UPS, as We believe that this is the safest and fastest way to send Your purchases to You. The prices shown on the “How to Buy” page do not include the cost of delivery. As the cost of delivery can change with the amount of prints that you order, We will





inform You of the delivery charge when You contact Us to place Your order. This charge will also appear on the receipt shipped with Your order. You will also receive a tracking number via email, so that you can see exactly where your package is anywhere in the world. At this time, Remote Printworks only ships orders to locations within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and The Republic of Ireland. We do not ship to any other international locations. The risk of loss and title for all merchandise ordered on our website passes to You when the merchandise is delivered to the shipping carrier. Delivery shall be deemed to have been made by Remote Printworks to You either five (5) days after the date that the parcel was collected by UPS, or the date that the package is marked as delivered by UPS, whichever is sooner.
