Remote Conferencing
Keegan Francis and Lindsay Warner
Problem/Solution
• Problem• CO2 emissions from travelling to meetings, conferences, etc.
• Solution• Video-conferencing, or communication that happens live over the Internet,
between facilities or between clients eliminates the necessity to travel to a central location or to another facility.
Examples of this technology include: Dim-Dim, InterCall, and WebEx and the cheapest of course being Skype.
Details/Cost
• How much money can really be saved with remote conferencing? Since travel distances vary from company to company, it is
difficult to place a single amount or range of cost savings, but if an employee had to travel by car or plane to a conference (plus gas, occasionally hotels, food, etc.) web-conferencing eliminates the need for that and saves any amount of money that would have cost the company.
