REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
• Region can be geographically bounded large area or any portion of earth’s surface defined by under a factor.
• Regional Planning is a specific planning structure(regional system), for inducing public action aimed at societal well being. It implies that regional planning is concerned fundamentally with the society in the context of space.
• Regional planning sometimes relates to development planning activities spanning multiple regions, involving several authorities with common objective. It can also refer to multi-nations and sub-national planning, whereby several provinces pursue development planning in general or around a particular country.

OBJECTIVES
• To evaluate potential of sub-natural areas and to develop them to best advantages as a whole nation.
• To develop outside the valuable natural resources without disturbing the ecology
• Sustainable urban and rural growth
NEED
• Mass unemployment and distress in the depressed region which has suffered severely
• Poverty and backwardness in regions which had been bypass in the course of economic development of the country like development of natural resources
• Increasing economic and social and physical problems related to large metropolitan cities and urban industrial concentrations, attention has been began to be directed to regional development and related aspects of urban growth and industrial location.
• It is seen as providing special framework for physical and economic planning which is more rational and more suitable than provided by local government units.

Delhi - Mumbai Industrial corridor(DMIC)• The 1483-km long DFC Project to be commissioned
in 2012.• Project aims to develop new industrial cities as
Smart Cities.• The project will provide a major impetus to planned
urbanization in India with manufacturing as the key driver. In addition to new industrial cities, the project envisages development of infrastructure linkages like pioneer plants, assured water supply, high capacity transportation and logistics facilities.
• Focus is on ensuring high impact developments within 150km distance on either side of alignment of Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).
• In the first phase seven new industrial cities are being developed.
Industrial Infrastructure•Developing new industrial clusters.•Upgradation of existing industrial estates/clusters in the corridor.•Developing Modern Integrated Agro Processing Zones with allied infrastructure.•Development of IT/ITeS Hubs and other allied infrastructure.•Providing efficient logistics chain with multi-modal logistic hubs.Physical Infrastructure•Development of ‘Knowledge Hubs’ with integrated approach.•Feeder Road/Rail connectivity to ports, hinterlands and markets.•Development of existing Port infrastructure and Greenfield Ports.•Upgradation/ Modernization of Airports.
•Setting up Power Generation Plants with transmission facilities.•Ensuring effective environment protection mechanism.•Development of integrated townships.

NCRPB• National Capital Region Planning Board covers NCR covering nearby
areas from three states- Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.• Three level plan--regional level large investment-inter-state connectivity and environment-city level urban investment Aims and Objectives• The Plan aims to promote growth and balanced development of the
whole region through providing economic base in the identified major settlements (Metro Centres/Regional Centres) for absorbing economic development impulse of Delhi, efficient transport network, development of physical infrastructure, rational land use pattern, improved environment and quality of life.
• Regional land use – 4 major land use zones and 3 sub-zones proposed: 1.Controlled/Development/Regulated Zone a) Urbanisable Area b) Agricultural (Rural) Zone within controlled/development/regulated area c) Green Buffers

NEED OF NCRPB• Increasing population has increasing demands and due to urbanisation
the city is being degraded. Quality of living was going low due to inefficiency of resources. Unproductive land, poor disaster management, ecological disturbances, depleting resources yet poor supply, slum development , etc. Has led to demand of developing NCRPB.
• NCR regional plan-2025 has norms and standard just require to sustain an multi-specialized area like this.
-With better transport focussing TOD-water requirement 225 lpcd-non-conventional resources for power maintaining the supply gap-sewer and solid waste management is worked-new irrigation facilities-proper telecommunication-shelter for all with adequate social infrastructure-maintaining ecological balance
DFRC• Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) is a Special Purpose
Vehicle set up under the administrative control of Ministry of Railways to undertake planning & development, mobilization of financial resources and construction, maintenance and operation of the Dedicated Freight Corridors.
• DFCCIL was incorporated in October 2006 under Indian Companies Act 1956.
• The plan to construct dedicated freight corridors across the country marks a strategic inflexion point in the history of Indian Railways that has essentially run mixed traffic across its network. Once completed, the dedicated freight corridors will enable Indian Railways to improve its customer orientation and meet market needs more effectively. Creation of rail infrastructure on such a scale - unprecedented in independent India – is also expected to drive the establishment of industrial corridors and logistic parks along its alignment.
Objective of DFC• To create world-class rail infrastructure with advanced technology
and knowledge to carry higher throughput per train.• To improve overall transport efficiency. • To offer customer guaranteed, faster transit, energy efficient,
environment-friendly transport.• To encourage total supply chain management.• Reduce the unit cost of transport logistics.• Increase Rail share in the freight market.
• Features of DFC:• DFC will provide Paradigm shift in freight operation with reduction in
unit cost of transportation due to • Less Operation and Maintenance Cost (O & M Cost) • Lean organization with higher efficiency.• Higher throughput per wagon and per train.• Lower energy consumption.
