Paying for roads: make it simple

• COVID 19 have proven that we are heading for less cash payments in real life but only if it is easier:

• From BCE study (2017): Cash is still #1 in current life transactions numbers = 79% vs 19% for credit card.

• It is stronger in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Slovenia) and Southern Europe (Greece, Chypre, Malta)

• In Netherlands, Estonia, Finland, cash is less than 54%• Actualisation in 2019 (before COVID): Cash is still #1 in current life

transactions numbers = 73% vs 24% for credit card• Contactless payment is pushing forward as well:

• Between 2012 to 2017, Contactless payment in France multiplied by 1000!• After COVID?
