The Song of Roland
(La Chanson de Roland)
Is an epic poem probably begun around 1040AD. It is considered one of the most famous chanson de geste a medieval literary form that celebrates noble deeds. The story is set in the time of Charlemagne with Roland
being Charlemagne’s nephew. Originally this would have been sung to entertain and inspire an audience, and as we enjoy our own bardic evenings around the fire- imagine the scene as these deeds were told … Many
authors have been inspired by the work, including Stephen King in the Dark Tower series.

Winter Bardic is December 8th, 5-10 pm
Facebook announcement/event is out – please share with Lochmere populace

Lady Bryn volunteered for Hospitality
Crown will need hospitality
Seneschal:
Suggested looking into an event that was forwarded to him
Sip & Stitch on October 20th at Russet Community Library

Ledger Balance is $8,307.59 as of 9/30/2018, including the $62.00 raised in Lochmart at Battle on the Bay
We are waiting for the split from Battle on the Bay
Per the Lochmere Financial policy, I need to report the amount budgeted and approved for the Pennsic truck with gas
and tolls was $400.00
The baronial share was $417.70
The financial committee approved the extra $17.70 and the payment was made
In Sept there was a suggestion made that we should sell the old 20X30 pavilion once we finally decide to put the new

We paid $1,983.87 in 2002: $1903.50 for the pavilion and $80.37 for shipping
The pavilion is fully depreciated from our books and is worth $0.00
If we sell the pavilion, anything we sell it for is more than it is worth
Just something to think about
Going back to something I did the beginning of this year when we discussed the benefits of keeping Mid-Winter’s Feast
and On Target
I passed this chart around at a meeting, but I never put it into a report

Battle on the Bay

Filled in for Patches until she arrived
Still stepping down at the end of October
Need someone to step up
Great experience for someone – gives you a new perspective on new comers

The court report for Battle on the Bay has been submitted
Congratulations to Lord Ceawlin on his Award of Excellence of Lochmere, m’lady Shaina on her Order of the
Sable Branch, and Lord Olaus Silvano as the newest member of the Order of the Blasted Oak
The Sable Branch is to recognize the great service rendered by newer folks to these lands
The Blasted Oak is for dedicated long service to the Barony
Congratulations also to m’lord Marcus Galmsson as Lochmere’s Armoured Champion, taking Lord Ceawlin’s
spot guarding Their Excellencies and the Barony
No morning court report was filed as no awards were bestowed
Time for the all-important Seneschal changeover from Master Kryss to Sir Aelfred
A gift and presentation of new clothes for Their Excellencies from Master Klaus of House Corvus
Finally a presentation by Lady Aine d’Alton of party hats and noisemakers to celebrate Lochmere’s 30th
Birthday
I have two names, two badges, and one device to work on submitting in my queue of things to do
My apologies to Mistress Lisette and Lord Jaudin for the terrible delay
As the third quarter of the year just concluded, I have not yet filed that report
I will not be attending War of the Wings
Let me know if someone needs a herald’s tabard loaned to represent the Barony

Nothing else to report from the Lochmere Herald’s office at this time
Please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask for assistance despite my many deficiencies

Worked at the MOL table for Battle on the Bay
Lady Kunigunde was MOLIC
I asked to get some numbers from the event from Kender but haven't received them yet
For rapier there was a double elimination and bear pit tournament and primarily melee fighting for heavy
weapons fighters
I am checking on my warrant status

I am still collecting and classifying activities for use with the School of Pages and YFA activities into a more accessible
collection for usable activities in our area

I am trying to write them up according to lesson plan type formats with supplemental information and bibliog-
raphy for more study along with each activity

Battle on the Bay:
Baron Gabe is autocrat
Feast is going to be done by Mistress Lisette la Roux
Syr Christian Darmody will be Marshal in charge
Will be reaching out soon for support
Ponies will be on site
Someone from Storvik will reserve the site – need line sitting volunteers
Will re-use Storvik website from this year’s event for next year
Gracella thought that a storage shed for shared items for event would be a good idea
