AB 341 – California’s Mandatory Commercial Recycling LawOn July 1, 2012, Assembly Bill 341 (AB 341) became effective in the State of California. This law requires businesses that generate at least four cubic yards of solid waste per week and multi-family complexes with five or more units, to have a recycling program in place. Waste Management is pleased to provide commercial recycling services that can help your business comply with State Assembly Bill 341. To sign up for recycling, contact Waste Management at (949) 642-1191 or visit home.wm.com/orange-county. Waste Management will provide all the materials and resources needed to start a successful program!

On Sept. 28, 2014, a new law called Assembly Bill 1826 (AB 1826) became effective in the State of California. This law requires businesses to recycle their organic materials, depending on the amount of waste they generate per week. As part of California’s recycling and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions target, businesses are required to divert food scraps and food-soiled paper that is mixed in with food waste from their waste streams, while multi-family buildings with five or more units are required to collect and recycle yard trimmings. These organic materials account for nearly one-third of the approximately 30 million tons of waste destined for California’s landfills each year. Diverting organics from landfills for processing reduces landfill GHG emissions and produces sustainable products that contribute to soil health, plant nutrition, water conservation and carbon sequestration. Waste Management is pleased to provide commercial organic recycling services that can help your business comply with State Assembly Bill 1826. To learn more about this mandate, visit: www.calrecycle.ca.gov/Recycle/Commercial/Organics or contact Waste Management at (949) 642-1191 to inquire about commercial organics recycling services.
