An analysis of the halib~t fisher; in the Pacific fram 1925 up to 1945. Contains statistics of the fishery showing the reciprocal relationship between amount of gear ond the catch per set and the changes in accumulated stock. It discusses the concept of a limited normel yield, and the theory of the accumulated stock as a resilient buffer mechanism and its modification of the limit to the normal yield. In addition it presents 'statistiCs of the Western and Southern Areas and ohanges in the yield in each; evaluates the tenn "Catch per Set of Gear" and its releted terms; and considers the biological significance of limited productivity of accumulated stocks and of the resilience of the species as related to the history of the virgin and fished stocks of halibut.
