1T H E R I P P L ERipples emit from a single point, diffusing them-selves against the distractions of its surround-ings. Its core is the origin of this organized chaos with waves of information projecting out into the city of Boston, growing based on time. Time is the underling factor connecting these bands of research, affected only by specific influences which will then alter the outline of the ripples.

Connecting with the local Boston residents, the Boston Institute of Cuisine will feature top of the line educational kitchens for the students of the culinary school to practice what they learn. A restaurant on the lower level will provide the students with additional experience in the cu-linary arts, gathering all ingredients from the greenhouse and gardens located on the rooftop. This process simulates the expansion of a ripple, beginning with the understanding of a culinary profession, adapting these skills through prac-tice, followed by serving and educating others

in the community.

At the request of the Human Sciences Academic Dean, this proj-ect was a complete rennovation of the Dean’s Suite, Department Suite and Graduate Areas for the West Wing of the Human Scienc-es building. The design is based off a grid system that allow each space to be a universal size to accommodate for multiple rooms and easy adjustments. The design embodies the Texas Tech colors as well as collaborative furniture from Haworth. It offers a closed, private traditional side as well as an open office collaborative side.

This project was a complete series from programming to de-sign development. As a class, we interviewed the Dean and established a program that considered the need. function, form, and time to understand the problem and find a solution.
