Planning: Weight Distribution

A

B

C D

• Goal: Abide by stacking limitations to improve equipment packing

• Logic:

– Weight is considered on multiple layers of items

– Weight is distributed when an item rests on two or more items

• Example:

– Weight of box A (plus B) affects box C (and D)

– Combined weight of box A and B is split across C and D

Planning: Load Splitting, Partial Pallets

• Goal: Split pallets to achieve higher equipment utilization

• Ability to define load split options – Weight, volume, and dimensions of each

piece (ship unit)

• Constraints – Only works for ship unit based orders

where the ship unit count = 1

– Splits for a pallet are always in the same equipment

– Partial on full footprint

– No partial on partial

Network Routing - Overview

• Use Case: – Order’s path from source to destination

may require multiple shipments through intermediate locations

– Choice of intermediate locations exists

– Routing decisions are made at time of planning

– Routing choice can be influenced by order volumes on multiple lanes

• A Network (new 6.3 object) is an association of locations and regions that represent the possible flows of orders from a source to a destination

OTM 6.3

Planning: Network Routing

• Network Planning with

Commitment Allocation

– Use percentage commitments when making network routing decisions

– Now considers FEU and TEU commitment as criteria • Assigned equipment will change to satisfy %

commitments

Planning

• Patterns for 3D Load Building

– Place multiple items into a unique grouping where the predefined combination efficiently fills the available space

– Benefit over individual placement is that items can be arranged as a set rather than simply sorted by some criteria and then fed into the packing algorithm one item at a time

– User defined and auto-generated

RIQ - Network Rate and Route

• Uses network routing logic to show multiple options (equipment, schedules) for the primary leg in an itinerary, versus just the best option per itinerary

• Additional input criteria added, additional output information, new configuration options and XML APIs to support the new capabilities

OTM 6.3.3

Example: 2 itineraries generates 6 options to consider 3 different equipment groups (20’, 40’, 40’ HC) available out of 2 different Ports of Discharge (Osaka and Kobe)

RIQ - Network Rate and Route New RIQ Input Fields for XML and for UI

• New Filter Fields – Port Of Load

– Port Of Discharge

– Voyage ID

• New Fields for Primary Options – Primary Option Definition

• How responses will be grouped –either “itinerary” or by “schedule and equipment group”

– Maximum Primary Options

• The number of “best results” based on the grouping that was selected by the Primary Option Definition

– Maximum Supporting Options

• Always 1 in the UI for now – can be manipulated via the API
