Dear Parishioners, We were advised this Thursday past that asbestos removal works will be taking place over the

next few weeks at Our Lady's College, until just after Easter. This may restrict, or possibly even prevent, the use of the carpark accessed beside the parish office from Ferndale Street, especially on the weekend of March 23-24. We are sorry for the inconvenience this will most likely cause, and respectfully ask your understanding and patience.

On a brighter note, we have been offered the use of a "demo" digital organ for Mary Immaculate church, which will probably arrive in the weeks following Easter. We are most grateful to Jim Glinch at "All Organs" for this offer. in Christ, Fr Scot Anthony Armstrong

The Sisters of the Nativity are starting an Orphanage from scratch in Otukpo, Benue State, Nigeria, to give unwanted babies a chance for survival and to live in the love of

Christ. The need to build a 50 – bedroom Orphanage is urgent in order to save the lives of babies who are discarded at birth. St. Gianna Maria Orphanage will also provide accommodation for women with unwanted pregnancies. These women will receive Counselling and pre/ante-natal care plus the support needed if they decide to keep their child after birth or give them up to the care of the sisters at the Orphanage. Please donate generously towards this very

Dr Peter Kwasniewski 2019 Australian Tour

Dr Kwasniewski is a Thomistic theologian, liturgical

scholar, and choral composer who has dedicated his life to

the articulation and defence of Catholic Tradition.

PROJECT COMPASSION 2019: The readings today make reference to the promises of God and the relationship that God

has with the people. We hear of the loving promise made between God and Abram. On Mount Tabor God speaks of Jesus

as 'beloved son' and urges Peter, James and John to "listen to him'. He urges them to listen to what

Jesus has been saying. Jesus is moving towards Jerusalem and his eventual death and resurrection,

a path on which we, as brothers and sisters of Jesus are invited. The story of the transfiguration of

Jesus is a stark reminder of how we might look at our sisters and brothers with the eyes of God who

looks at Jesus his son, our brother and says "this is my beloved." The disciples on Mount Tabor

returned to the foot of the mountain with a different perspective having seen with their own eyes

something of the relationship between Jesus and his father. Each of us is called to a new way of

looking and seeing, understanding that all creation is within the loving gaze of God. We might ask

ourselves, how can we open our eyes to see ourselves in relationship with all of God's beloved

people?

PREGNANCY CRISIS: In your Lenten almsgiving, you might

consider a gift of any of the following items to help the

women currently being supported by Pregnancy Crisis Inc:

newborn nappies; gift cards/cash; rice; canned food (fish,

tomatoes, etc). Gifts clearly marked for Pregnancy Crisis

can be left at the front of the church, or taken to the parish

office during office hours, or dropped at the Oratory

house. The charity relies solely on donations, and your gifts

will help us stretch our resources a little further.

Father Adrian will be accompanying a pilgrimage to Fatima

and Lourdes for 12 days in September 2020. Information brochures can be obtained from the parish office.

MASS READINGS

First Reading: Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18

Taking Abram outside the Lord said, 'Look up to heaven and count the stars if you can. Such will be your descendants' he told him. Abram put his faith in the Lord, who counted this as making him justified. 'I am the Lord' he said to him 'who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldaeans to make you heir to this land.' 'My Lord, the Lord' Abram replied, 'how am I to know that I shall inherit it?' He said to him, 'Get me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove and a young pigeon.' He brought him all these, cut them in half and put half on one side and half facing it on the other; but the birds he did not cut in half. Birds of prey came down on the carcasses but Abram drove them off. Now as the sun was setting Abram fell into a deep sleep, and terror seized him. When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, there appeared a smoking furnace and a firebrand that went between the halves. That day the Lord made a Covenant with Abram in these terms: 'To your descendants I give this land, from the wadi of Egypt to the Great River.'

Second Reading: Philippians 3:17-4:1 My brothers, be united in following my rule of life. Take as your models everybody who is already doing this and study them as you used to study us. I have told you often, and I repeat it today with tears, there are many who are behaving as the enemies of the cross of Christ. They are destined to be lost. They make foods into their god and they are proudest of something they ought to think shameful; the things they think important are earthly things. For us, our homeland is in heaven, and from heaven comes the saviour we are waiting for, the Lord Jesus Christ, and he will transfigure these wretched bodies of ours into copies of his glorious body. He will do that by the same power with which he can subdue the whole universe. So then, my brothers and dear friends, do not give way but remain faithful in the Lord. I miss you very much, dear friends; you are my joy and my crown.

Jesus took with him Peter and John and James and went up the mountain to pray. As he prayed, the aspect of his face was changed and his clothing became brilliant as lightning. Suddenly there were two men there talking to him; they were Moses and Elijah appearing in glory, and they were speaking of his passing which he was to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter and his companions were heavy with sleep, but they kept awake and saw his glory and the two men standing with him. As these were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, 'Master, it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.' - He did not know what he was saying. As he spoke, a cloud came and covered them with shadow; and when they went into the cloud the disciples were afraid. And a voice came from the cloud saying, 'This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him.' And after the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. The disciples kept silence and, at that time, told no one what they had seen.
