Brief:

R Cooper joinery is a joinery business ran by one individual; work is start-ing to run dry for this person due to the current climate with more and more people choosing a cheaper DIY approach to joinery work to save money. Background/considerations/Mandatory requirements:

The deign work has to suit its purpose for a joiner whilst still portraying a strong eye-catching visual aesthetic to help bring in work for the joiner let the business reach its full potential. The company is already fully established within the industry their fore has a lot of imagery and content to work around. Logo

The company did not originally specifically ask me to re-brand the busi-ness, however I didn’t agree that the overall aesthetic of the old visual identity of R. Cooper Joinery worked in communicating the correct mes-sage, their fore full filling the companies potential. I completely changed the look and feel of the company giving them a new name and logo.

Typeface: Gill sans

Gill’s lettering is based on classic roman proportions, which give the sans-serif a less mechanical feel than its geometric contemporaries. Its bold characteristics and easy readably means that it would be the perfect typeface to use for all collateral for R Coo-per joinery, just changing the weights for headers and titles to body text and small print.

The Range:

The range consists of all stationary needed by R Cooper joinery with a visual consistency throughout product; invoices, receipts, letterheads, emails, compliments slip. I also designed some A5 flyers to be handed out and a small A5 brochure showcasing some of his joinery work. A technical drawing pad to hand out plans and sketches to clients along with key rings, pencils, business cards and a branded business card holder.

Processes:

All outcomes were printed on the same stock, bulky newsprint 180GSM, this stock was chosen because of its weight that would work for the whole range from leaflets to brochures also with the slight shine the paper has it really lets the colours of the design work pop. The blue and brown colourscheme was applied to all outcomes giving each product a strong visual consistency with the others.

Promotional material:

For R Cooper Joinery’s promotional material I thought the most appropriate outcomes because it is just a small independently ran company would just be a flyer and brochure, all low cost A5 prints that could be handed out around his local area grabbing the at-tention of potential clients.

Drawing Pad:

The Drawing pad was designed with an isometric grid printed on carbon-less paper allowing the pencil marks to run make two sheets of paper at once, with a perforated edge allowing R. Cooper to easily sketch out concepts and ideas for projects to clients, tear them out for them to take away with all his company details on there and still keep a reference copy for himself.

Further range:

I also applied the brand identity to a range of products creating pencils for his own per-sonal use and key rings which could be used as a promotional device to get his branding out there and seen by masses because of how easy and low cost they are to produce.

Van & Website:

After seeing the proposed company re-brand for R Cooper Joinery he de-cided that he was going to go ahead and change his images, therefore along side the re-brand itself he asked me to design van mock ups that he is soon to get printed and a website to showcase his joinery work and potentially get clients through.
