On Wednesday August 15th, 2018, our Club was invited to visit the POD Bali Choclat Factory. Headed by our President Erika, her having just returned from leading aid efforts in Lombok after the series of earth-quakes wreaking havoc there.
We were a good dozen Rotarians including Jeni, Alex P. John, Steinar, Sally, Anita, Patrick VK, Ketut S, Christian, Marie Francoise, Detlev and also Yolanda from our IPP Alex’s Trans Resort team. It was a clear sky day for the one hour drive up from Seminyak and Sanur.
It became a lighthearted vocational tour where the modest tour price of 150 k rp included making our own plate of choco-late, with two chosen ingredients beyond the ( sugary) milk chocolate provided.
Last, a croissant and a delicious drink of, surprise, Bali choklat. A trip well worth taken to uplift ourselves amidst many project needs.

MADE A PRODUCT WHERE IT’S GROWN
The cacao pods are grown in a village 20 mins north of the shop & factory outlet that we visited.
They also have a Sunset Cafe in Kuta, check their website: www.balichoklat.com
THE STORY OF POD CHOKLATPod Bali began in 2010 where Toby Garritt set out on a three year process to develop chocolate production techniques and recipes while working with local farmers to create organic, sustainable farming models that increase yield, quality and value for local communities.
