The hemp or coconut mat shall be folded according to the shape of the erodedriverbeds. If possible, the heavily eroded riverbeds must be linearized partially or totally.Inside the wooden shield there is a rubber mat damping the force of water, logs andstones hitting during floods and more (figure 2). Shield elasticity gives it great strength.

Rubber mat is set inside the wooden shield by the means of the metal rivets.

This wooden shield is fixed to the riverbank by the means of some wooden or plastic dowels (figure 3). The dowels are provided with thread. On the thread there is ametal system (nut with handles) that presses the wooden shield and also the hempmattress while screwing. Inside the eroded riverbed, the wooden or resistant plasticdowels are fastened by using some metal stoppers. Therefore the hemp mattress is the

perfectly fixed on the eroded riverbed, stopping the erosion. Where applicable, shrubscan be planted inside the hemp mat in order to stabilize the banks.

Channels reaching nearly to hemp mat can be drilled between the metal rivets onthe horizontal side of the eroded banks, all over the eroded area. Shrubs with radicularroot which can support the hemp mat and also the riverbed can be planted into the drilledholes. This is a bioengineering solution that can be applied anywhere in the world.
