Branded spices were launched in the year of 1989. Ramdev was the first to launch the branded spices. At the time spice market was totally controlled by loose products. Almost 98% of total spices were sold through loose market. The objective behind launching of branded spices was giving superior quality products and to make spices available at each and every retail counter.

Behind the spectacular success of Ramdev Food Products Pvt Ltd lies the genius of Mr. Hasmukhbhai Rambhai Patel. Hasmukhbhai led his company as managing director from 1989 to 1998, as chairman from 1998 to 2001 and ever since has been heading the company as chairman- cum-managing director.

Hasmukhbhai has accumulated vast and versatile experience during his rich professional career. He has now an experience of more than twenty-four year in the development of basic, blended and ready to cook food products. He has been handling marketing and product planning for ever twenty years. He has managed one of the fastest growing food products companies and coveted Ramdev into a coveted household food products brand. He has successfully launched a wide spectrum of new products including instant mixes, asafetida, pickle masala etc. Ramdev has been exporting spices and Indian groceries.

As CMD of the company Hasmukhbhai shoulders diverse responsibilities and is actively involved in production planning, material management, setting up new factories, vendor management, supplier and third party management, planning company expansion with joint ventures, liasioning with other companies, branding and products planning for the entire product portfolio and conceptualizing and coordinating market research for products. He also has full say in advertising, export development and quality control.

The main objective of Ramdev Food is to accept the surplus chili from farmers and also to provide reasonable return to them.

Ramdev food have many type of kitchen product range like chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander, co. cumin, hing, garam masala, tea masala, pavbhaji masala, chhole masala, panipuri masala, sambhar masala, chat masala, achar masala etc.

Ramdev food also produce instant mix like gota, khaman, dalwada, dahiwada, idli, dhokala, dhosa, pizza, gulab jamun, methi gota, handvo.

India, the Queen of Spices, has always attracted the world with her exotic masala. In fact, the connection goes back many centuries. To the time when travelers like Vasco da Gama and Columbus were still exploring the geography of the Earth. Even then, the mystique of Indian spices magnetized them to India and paved the way for a new chapter to be written in the annals of time.

'The lure of the unknown', which repeatedly brought visitors to the Spice Land, was the presence of nature's rich elements in those fresh and highly aromatic spices. Spelling magic and carrying an enviable aura, they left people spellbound. They, at, have preserved the same values in all their products ever since they started as a small unit in 1963, in Ahmedabad, India. A small step became a giant leap in no time. But there was a binding force, a commitment that helped them keep their promise of purity and freshness in their products for all these years.

Them immense belief in the philosophy of 'reaching a customer's heart through quality' has enabled their to spread the rich Indian heritage to millions of homes all over the globe. And that’s their pride. Indian food. The Indian way.

Rambhai started ‘Atta Chaki’ at Saraspur in 1963.then after he started “RAMDEV” in 1989. After starting Ramdev food he starting to produce Garam masala, tea masala, coriander and Hing in 1990-92. After starting INDIAN GROCERIES he moves on Instant Mix.

In 1995 Ramdev Food put their products in Rajasthan and now 18 states are covered by ramdev. Ramdev have 705 distributors and more than 87000 retailers in all over India.

Company’s vision is to be really 100 crores Turnover Company by 2009.

Vision of the company is to make available the Ramdev brand at every counter at every center through increase distribution networks.

Ramdev will be concentrating on new product developments. Launching of newer products will be prime focus.

Apart from launching new products Ramdev has also initiated the packaging development process. The packing of Instant Mix, Garam Masala and Vendam Incense sticks has already been changed to attractive and hygienic packs.

1. Social Responsibility

For the environmental aspects Ramdev is honest. It does not create any type of pollution surrounding the area. Two scholarships are given every year to outstanding children of the members or the union staff for professional coerces. Vehicle service provides to their employees at the door.

Ramdev Food is India’s 1st Food Safety “ISO 22000-2005” certified spice company.

The future plans of the company is increasing its new products sales and existing products which are available in the market. Apart from launching new products Ramdev also initiated the packaging development process. The packing of instant mix, garam masala and Vedam sticks has already been changed to attractive and hygienic packs.

The company also plans to export its products more and more in foreign market which is profitable for the company.

Company’s vision is to be Rs. 100 crores turnover by 2009. vision of the company is to make available the Ramdev brand at every counter at every center through increase distribution networks.

Certified Spice Company

First to introduce polypacks for spices in India. All the other brands followed suit. Polypacks became the benchmark and the trend in the spice market. Ramdev was the first company to launch price packet Rs.2 and Rs.5 packs in year 2000. To increase penetration of Ramdev products down to the lower strata and to make packaged foods available price packets were introduce. In the very first year over 68 lack units of chilly, turmeric and garam masala price packets were sold. Another trend was set. Competition also introduces price packets. Launched instant mix in the year of 1991. Launched Asafoetida with agmark seal of guarantee for the first time in India in the year of 1992. Launched super Hing low price Asafoetida in year 2001 to cater to the needs of market. Opened new markets outside Gujarat. I.e. Maharashtra, Chhatisegarh, Orrisa, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, J & K, Ghaziabad and Uttranchal. Outside Gujarat Ramdev is present in north, east and West India. Ramdev is catering market 11 C&P, 645 distributors, 78680 calls, 16 states and 167 sales persons. Ramdev has also initiated the concept of consignee sales agents in the states of Assam, Bihar and Jarkhand. Currently Ramdev is at driving position in purse spices category all over India. Ramdev caters to US, UK and other countries through distribution channels. Total turn over of Ramdev Food Products Pvt. Ltd. is Rs. 55 crores for the year of 2004-05. ramdev has launched its premium range of spices in the month of march, 05. the response of premium spices can be drawn from the fact that with 15 days of the launch most of competitors launched the premium range. Ramdev has also launch Vedam brand sticks. Customers’ response of Vedam is very good. Vedam is the only brand in incense stick category, which has qualified marketing team who works systematically according to company policies. One of the great strength Ramdev has is its teamwork. Through its motivated team Ramdev can solve any kind of problems with success.

CONCLUSION

Ramdev is producing various kinds of products of kitchen masala and instant mix to satisfy needs of consumer. The financial position of Ramdev is very strong, It available in market with current profit.

It was indeed a grate experience to under take and completes this project report. It taught us to work to gather as a team. We also learned the ways of running a business and staying in the leader’s place, which is a difficult task in itself.

Ramdev has various special features and has kind of spice world that have enjoyed good wealth in the beginning weather it will be able to run smoothly.
