The Emblem of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) represents the RoyalFoundation which RMUTSV is built upon. It is a circular logo under the Great Crown of Victory(Pramahapichaimongkut). Inside the circle are 8 lotus petals representing the Noble Eightfold Path(Magga 8) and the spirit of light. Encompassed by the lotus petals is the Royal Emblem depicts thePrivy Seal of the Ninth Reign (Prarajcharunjakorn) or the symbol of the King Bhumibol Adulyadajwho graciously conferred the university’s name. Further out of the emblem, at both sides of the endof a strip, there are supernatural flowers that represent civility, cheer and pleasantness. The refinedEmblem of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) is appreciated by all. It alsosymbolizes the deep concern Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) withdeveloping vocational education and expanding the fields as the Royal vision.

On January 8, 2005 in the 9th day of 2 lunarmonth, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej(Ninth reign) signed the “Rajamangala University ofTechnology Act,”. The law, announced in the RoyalGazette ten days later before coming into effecton January 18, 2005, combines all nine RajamangalaUniversity of Technology (RMUT) located all overThailand; namely, RMUT Thanyaburi, RMUTKrungthep, RMUT Tawan-ok, RMUT Phra Nakhon,RMUT Rattanakosin, RMUT Lanna, RMUT Isarn,RMUT Suvarnabhumi and RMUT Srivijaya. The main aim of decentralization to allregions in Thailand is to foster independenceand flexibility so they handle their own affairsunder the university council. Apart from this,another intention is to turn these nine universitiesinto science and technology universities offering

advanced vocational training in undergraduate,graduate and Ph.D. levels to facilitate vocationalstudents and to provide educational opportunitiesto those who graduated from community colleges.All nine RMUT have been under the supervisionof the Office of Commission on Higher Education(OCHE), Ministry of Education.

Rajamangala University of TechnologySrivijaya, (RMUTSV), is one of the universitiesin the group of Rajamangala University ofTechnology (RMUT). RMUTSV is located in thesouth of Thailand. The university is made up ofthree provincial areas including five campusesnamely; Songklha Campus, Nakhon Si Thammarat(Thung Yai) Campus, Nakhon Si Thammarat(Sai Yai) Campus, Nakhon Si Thammarat (Khanom)

Campus, and Trang Campus. RMUTSV offerseducation at the high vocational and graduatelevel in eleven faculties, three colleges, two institutes, one research center, and oneAquarium museum such as the faculties of BusinessAdministration, Agriculture, Liberal Arts,Management Technology Science and Technology,Agro-industry, Engineering, Architecture,Science and Fisheries, Technology VeterinaryMedicine, College of Industrial Technologyand Management and Rattaphum College,Col lege of Hospital i ty and Tour ism, andRajamangala Aquar ium Trang. Current lyRMUTSV has more than 16,000 students. Thereare about 4,000-5,000 enrollments each year.

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (abbreviated as RMUTSV) pays great attention

to the management of higher education, particularly in the fields of science and technology

as well as services. The main aim is to produce graduates who have both the professional ability to manage

University’s symbolic tree:Yang/Yang-na Tree

Yang or Yang na is the royal charity tree whichhas bole tall, straight and its fruit has 2-3 wings. Whenthe fruit scatters from the tree, it is elegantly blownby the wind. These characteristics are as if usingproficient knowledge with mindfulness to serve societyand continuously develop oneself. It is like themovement of Yang-na’s fruit when blown by wind.

No Ra Kinnaree is the mascoto f R a j a m a n g a l a U n i v e r s i t yof Technology Srivijaya with thecombination of No Ra and Kinnaree.No Ra or Manora is a southerntraditional dance and Kinnaree isa mythical half-human half-birdc r e a t u r e . N o R a K i n n a r e ewears a headdress (part of theManora costume) and its body isa Kinnaree. This represents theharmony and unity of Thai people.

The RMUTSV Sculpture Designrepresents the university’s officialemblem which is composed of thePrivy Seal of the ninth reign (PhraRajalunjakorn), the symbolic Letter“Unalome” insignia as well as theGreat Crown of Victory (Phra MahaPichai Crown). The sculpture designwas influenced by Srivijaya Arts, whichtypically appears on the image ofPhra Bodhisattva. Being straight andupright of Phra Bodhisattva means

stability and strength whilst the gentle curves of the eight lotus petals symbolize not only thebeauty and flexibility of the Fine Arts but also the wisdom in the Buddhism Philosophy. Thesymbolic Letter “Unalome” insignia looks like the Thai numeral 9 meaning the ninth reignof Rattanakosin Dynasty of Thailand. All of the symbols presented on the sculpture signify theprosperity of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya.

In addition, there is the Rajamangala PavilionBeach Resort, a joint venture between RajamangalaUniversity of Technology Srivijaya and SupsaensawaiCo. Ltd. Formerly, it was knownas the Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Southern Campus. After the law governing the institutionwas changed, it was transformed into a university. Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus is located at 179 M.3 Mai Fad,Sikao, Trang 92150, Thailand. The university has continuously developed teaching methodologyand curriculum suitable for the needs of learners and also supports lecturers’ work, innovations,throughout community services.

The university consists of 1 faculty and 1 college. The university offers both 4-year bachelordegrees and transfer programs as follows:

1. Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology is composed of Aquaculture, Food Industry,Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, Environmental Science, Local EnvironmentalManagement, Chemical Industry, Fisheries and Aquaculture Business Management, IndustrialTechnology, and Marine Science programs. Additionally, the faculty also provides a master degreein the field of Science: Environmental Management Technology, Aquaculture Technology, andIntegrated Coastal Management.

The Rajamangala Walkway or MangroveForest Trail is also one of RMUTSV’s projectsestablished to create an aquatic nursery andeducational and research hub highlighting thedelicate but essential mangrove eco-system. It issuitable for students, academics, particularly thosewho are passionate about nature to study andadmire its beauty. In fact, the trail consists of 4trails but 2 are under construction.

The university also offers RajamangalaTrang Aquarium with displays of freshwaterfish and saltwater fish, Seashell Museum,dugong and whale shark skeletons, as wellas dugong carcasses exhibition. Another thingto impress visitors is the show of dugongs.It happens twice in a normal day, 10.30 a.m.,and 14.30 p.m. and 4 times on official holidays,10.30 a.m., 11.30 a.m., 14.30 p.m., and 15.30 p.m.

All these efforts reflect that RajamangalaUn i ve r s i t y o f Techno logy S r i v i j a ya TrangCampus not only focuses on academia butalso provides real experience for the studentsto expose them to problems in real situations.T h i s r e a che s t he un i ve r s i t y ’ s goa l o f“practicing graduators”.

Apart from this, the college of hospitalityand tourism provides luxury resort with variouskinds of rooms and traditional massage whichhas various types such as reflexology (footmassage) and the royal Thai massage doneby the students. It is open daily at the TouristService Center, Rajamangala Beach, Trang.

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Nakhon Si Thammarat, Sai Yai Campus wasestablished on December, 23 1935 under the act of secondary agricultural school of Thung Songdistrict. Over the decades, the university has been continuously developing until now, being oneof the most professional universities in the field of teaching Agriculture in southern Thailand. Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Nakhon Si Thammarat (Sai Yai) is located at 109Thungsong-Nakornsi, M.2, Thumyai, Thung Song, Nakorn Si Thammarat. The faculties provided are:

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya College of Industrial Technology andManagement Nakhon Si Thammarat, Khanom Campus is located at 99 M. 4, Thong Nian, Khanom,Nakorn Si Thammarat. Originally, it was renamed Srivijaya campus being subjected to RajamangalaTechnology Institution. It was established on September, 26, 1995 according to the announcementof the Ministry of Education. In 2005, Rajamangala Technology Institution announced the RajamangalaUniversity of Technology Act. Thus, Srivijaya campus was later changed to be Rajamangala Universityof Technology Srivijaya College of Industrial Technology and Management Nakhon Si ThammaratCampus (Khanom) or College of Industrial Technology and Management, for short.

The university is surrounded by beautiful natural resources and ancient remains such asJedeepakarung (coral pagoda), Prathap Cape, and the Footsteps of Luang Pu Thuat the Holy Trailwhich is open to visitors.

Rajamangala Srivijaya Center of Research and Training, Chumporn has established with the aimto help the victims of “Typhoon Gay” which hit the Thai gulf on November, 4 1989 causing loss of lifeand property. Rajamangala Technology Institution or Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya(at present) responded to the disaster by forming the Flowers and Fruits Reproduction Center to assistthe victims.

The center has built in an area of 218 rai located at 168 M. 5, Thale Sap, Pathio, Chumporn.In the past, it was subjected to the Special Task Division and later in 1996 it changed its name to theStudent Research and Training Center, Chumporn.

In 2005, it was included in the Rajamangala University Act and the name was changed againto Rajamangala Srivijaya Center of Research and Training, Chumporn The major roles are to focuson education and research to serve and support the university’s missions. This center is now underthe supervision of the Faculty of Agriculture, Nakorn Si Thammarat.
