[email protected] After passing through the IBA assembly hall, the first Rhodotron ® TT300-HE was rigged in its temporary house in an underground vault in Louvain-la-Neuve. The new 40 MeV accelerator will be tested and tuned during 4 months by the IBA’s R&D team before being shipped to its final destination in Wisconsin, USA. By using high-energy electrons from the Rhodotron ® to produce molybdenum-99, Northstar will be able to avoid the use of uranium and propose an innovant and optimized way to deliver technetium-99, the most widely used radio-isotope for medical diagnostics. A NEW RHODOTRON ® TO PRODUCE MOLYBDENUM-99 NEW SYNTHERA ® + SOFTWARE MAX EASE OF USE AND THE HIGHEST COMPLIANCE 68 Ge 123 I 68 Ge 123 I 82 Rb Increased interest in Germanium-68/ Gallium-68 and Strontium 82/ Rubidium 82 generators is driving the demand for high energy cyclotrons. Moreover, physics research projects, such as the Rare isotope Accelerator complex for ON-line experiments (RAON) project in South Korea, are contributing to the increased demand. In 2016, IBA and Zevacor established a new record with a 70 MeV cyclotron site acceptance test received only 10 months after its delivery ( see video)! Since then, 3 more Cyclone ® 70 systems were acquired; one is currently under installation at A to Z Isotopes (USA, Indiana) and two others; iThemba Labs (South Africa) and RAON (South Korea) will soon be delivered. In addition, IRE selected IBA to install a new 30MeV cyclotron that will enable them to produce Germanium-68, for the Germanium-68/ Gallium-68 generators, for which demand is rapidly growing (see press release). Two other 30 MeV cyclotrons are currently under production and will soon be shipped. With over 30 Cyclone ® 30 installed and 6 Cyclone ® 70 sold all over the world, IBA is recognized as preferred vendor and undisputed leader in high energy cyclotrons. Cyclone ® 70 is a variable energy cyclotron that accelerates protons from 30 to 70 MeV with 750µA current. This cyclotron is optimized for production of 82 Sr & 68 Ge for generators as well as 123 I. Cyclone ® 30 is a variable-energy cyclotron that accelerates protons from 15 to 30 MeV, optionally capable to deliver deuteron and alpha (-XP). This machine is optimized for large scale production of 68 Ge and 123 I as well as 211 At with the XP option. Thanks to this high capacity cyclotron, the radiopharmacy will be able to reach a daily production of 30Ci of 18 F. Congratulations to the whole team involved. INSTALLATION OF THE CYCLONE ® 70 @A TO Z ISOTOPES The IBA 70 MeV Cyclone ® 70 has been successfully rigged and assembled at A to Z Isotopes in Bunker Hill, Indiana ( watch the video). This 140 tons cyclotron system is under installation. It will be used to produce radiopharmaceuticals for oncology, cardiology and other critical diseases. After passing through the IBA assembly hall, the first Rhodotron® TT300-HE was rigged in its temporary house in an underground vault in Louvain-la-Neuve.
