CHECKING THE CAR Before runnlno thO car. perform the following checks. (ThO car baHGf'Y is not needed tOf these chocks.)

1. Check that an setews and nuts are tightened rxooerty.

2. Cheek that the wiring is neat and that thefe are no short c ircuits. (Use etecvical insulating tape if there are any bare witos..}

3. Cheek that all wheels tum freely, without binding "' ~- Rotato the wheels by hand for abou'l two seconds to distnbu1e the grease evenJy and to free w the bushings.

4. Switcll on the ttansmittet and recelvec. then check that t:hG wheels t...-n right whefl the steering control is operated tor a right tum. Check that the wheeJs tl.m an El(juaJ

distance right oncl lett. If they do not. adjust the linkage.

s. Cheek tl\at the speed controller slider moves lhe fufl distance and In the right direction when the ttansminer speed conl:fOI stiCk is l'nOYed fu!ly IOtWatd, then chec:k the same lor rever$9 by I'OOYing the stick backward. If slider movement ls not cooect adjust the linkage.

After the cheek. switch off the receiver, then the transmitter, in that order.

The suspension should be adjusted sati.s· lacu:>rily if it was set up as described l.n the COI"'$truction Instructions. However. it may be adjl.l$ted fOf different road conditions. etc, by raising or lowefing the coil s.prings oo the shocks absorbers (thl.l5 softening Of hardeoing the suspension). A hatdef rear suspension causes ovcrstCOf behavic:w {the no5e of the car stt!ers progressively more Into the comer when the car is oon'lering hard), while a soltef rear • suspens-ion cavses lJI'\dQtSteer ttne nose moves to the outside of the corner as speed ttwough the corner increases).

The CO\ret of lhe SQeed controller is ~gned to keep out dirt. Howevet, after running Pegasus in dusty cooditlons, some dust may have entmed afld may affect operation Qntennittent. unsmooth, etc.). II is adVisable to remove the oover regularly and clean off thO windings and to oil the pivot of the slider if It beComes sti ff and difficult to t11n.

(j)Remove NiCd battery.

@Clean dirt off car and motor.

@Check that screws are tight.

CHECKING THE CAR

RUNNING THE CAR When the above ohecks have been made successfully, thG cat is ready to run. Prepare It in the fotlowino manner. Perform l.hese tests ts: a large open soaca beeai..ISO tho cat can go surprisingly quickly.

1. Check that lhe transmitter. receiver. and car NiCd batteries are chatged. ttf the radio set uses. disPOSable ca-ns. be: s11e that the batteties are fresh.•

2. Install the car battery in its COr'fll)artment and I<M the connector.

3. Switch on the transmitter. 4. Switch on tOO receivar. S. Check that the car moves forward when the transmitter

speed stick is moved focward. and that the speed of the car Increases as the stick is tnOYW forward ptogrcssivcly tanhct.

s. Check that lh& cat steets at a rate that allows it to be controtled comfor1~bly. If s teering is too quick, move the IMet ends of the tie rods to the holes in the sOf\'O savCf that ate c loser to the ocnter of the servo wheel.

7. When yoo have finished rooning the cat. swi1ch oH tOO receiver, then the ttansminer.

NOTE:Never switCh oH the transmittet befOI'e tnereceiver If there is radio Interference. thOI"e i.s the risk t~t the car wi II respOnd and drive away a1 high speed

TUNING THE SUSPENSION

TROUBLESHOOTING If the car has been assembled carefully. It ShOuld run withOut problem. However, if it fails to perform prOI)elty, check the fOllowing i tems one at a time.

1. COnnect()('$ of me radio set (.battety box, swftch lead to receiver, servo lei~ds to reoeiverl. connectors of cat battery. YAring. and batteries of radio s.et (ttansmittE!f and receiver).

2. Poor contact of the slldOt of the soecd controller with tt'le 'Hire w;ncling.

3. F3\Jit In the radio equipment. (Consult your hobby doaler.)

4. Interference from another transmitter. (If the servos move 01 Jitter when yoLK transmitter is switChed oH, ttlis is a orobtem.)

.. . Oversteerlng Stiffening the rear suspension wtn usually rcsull ln oversteerlng.

. . . ' /

Understeerlng Softening the rear suspension will usuaJiy resUlt In understeerlng.

MAINTENANCE OF SPEED CONTROLLER
