RACING OVERVIEW ‘A Day at the Park’

Pro Racing in Canada

• On the MX track, the last 4 years have been incredibly successful. – 2008 – MX1 Champs

– 2009 – MX1 Champs

– 2010 – MX1 and MX2 Champs

– 2011 – MX1 and MX2 Champs

• Due to budget and market conditions, no longer feasible to be partnered with Blackfoot and the cost associated.

• In the meantime, while our Japanese competitors have been stagnant, KTM has captured a lot of momentum by showing their commitment to Canadian off-road. – Full, coast to coast demo tour (mx and enduro models)

– Amateur racing contingency

– Increasing spending to their race programs to sign #1 Colton Facciotti, #2, Dusty Klatt and Jeremy Medaglia.

2012 Goal • The goal for 2012 was getting more dealerships actively engaged in racing

and representing Yamaha at the track. Go back to the grass roots and support more racers while still getting top-level podium results.

• Strategy is to sponsor the “local heroes” and “opinion shapers” via key dealers in hot regions from coast to coast. These dealers raise their profile in their respective regions to become the off-road/racing hub in their community. Also used this opportunity to sponsor important tracks and schools to bolster our exposure.

• The secondary objective was to garner some visibility and break ground for some of our ‘sub’ brands like Yamalube, AXO, GYTR etc.

2012 Racing • Focus was to sign riders that had all or most of the following credentials:

– Outgoing and approachable – Well-respected within their region by the amateur community. ‘They give as much as they

take.’ – A Yamaha dealer willing to provide them with time and support – Ability to race at the ‘Top 20’ level Nationally – Canadian (with the exception of our upstate New York friend Mr. Kiniry!!)

• Once signed, riders would have to provide more than just racing services, agreeing to: – run a minimum of (2) riding schools – press releases after each round – a library of images to use for marketing purposes. – encouraged to be active on social media with FB and Twitter. Expand their circle of impact.

• Also put an emphasis on getting exposure at the ‘school/track’ level. Agreements with MX101 @ San Del Lee, Port Elgin MX Track, and MotoPark to be the exclusive manufacturer at the track.
