Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media

product and why?

Page 2: Question 3

• IPC Media is the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publisher

• With more than 60 iconic media brands, IPC creates content for multiple platforms, across print, online, mobile, tablets and events. We engage with 26 million UK adults - almost two thirds of UK women and over 40% of UK men. Our award winning portfolio of websites reaches over 25 million global users every month.

Publishing?

• At the moment, IPC media only publishes one music magazine, and one teen magazine which means there will be less competition.

• Also, on financial terms, the magazine can sell well as it is unique in the pop music category

• Because they are such a big and well known company, there should be more advertisement options as it should be both easier and cheaper to advertise with help from such a big media institution.

Distribution

• I would expect my magazine to be sold in most shops, such as;

• Including other

newsagents and big

named supermarkets

• Most people shop in these places, and are becoming more popular. The magazines are also located at the front, meaning more promotion, which would be helped by IPC media.

Subscriptions

• Most magazines have a subscription which means SoundBite will have one as well, which will involve the readers more making them want to buy the next magazine, at the discounted price.

• Also SoundBite could possibly have a website including exclusive interviews, reviews and videos. It would be called SoundClub (as illustrated on the contents page) and would have the same layout, which keeps consistency within the pages.
