Happy New Year! It seems like 3 months ago that we rang in 2018. When you are as busy as we all are, time flies by very fast. This New Year makes me reflect and think about what we want to do better as a Nari Chapter by engaging new members and developing relationships with current members. Let's make this the year to meet someone new at every meeting and bringing new people to enjoy the benefits of NARI. 2019 will be a great year and I have strong ambitions for the NARI chapter. Increase attendance, Member engagement at meetings, Member participa-tion in committee's, Increase the remodel tour and Contractor of Excellence project participants.

The Omaha NARI Board of Directors and Executive Director, Sarah Jensen, do an excellent job coming up with engaging topics for the months events and meetings. My question for everyone is "If you are paying the annual membership fee, why not attend the meetings? All our events have great food, beverages and peers to hang out with. By being a member, you have the privilege to spend 2 hours of your time, once a month, to better yourself in your business. We also encourage you to provide input on any topics that you may want to discuss at these meetings to help engage everyone else.

Omaha NARI is always looking for individuals to contribute to our committee as well. The more input we get the more improvement we see for NARI. The committees general meets once every month or less to discuss ways to help all the local business. Such committee's include: Membership, Marketing, Special Events/Remodeled Home Tour, Government Affairs, Workforce Development, Contractor of Excellence Awards and Community Service Committee. By assisting on these committee's you will have a greater understanding of our NARI chapter and the planning that needs to happen every year. New faces gives everyone new ideas. Get involved, make changes and help grow the Omaha NARI chapter.

Lastly, this goes out to all the contractors in the membership. We all do excellent work for the public so why not show off these projects. I never imagined what it can do until I entered a project on the tour for 2018. The benefits of having 100-300 people walk-ing through your project on a weekend gives you future relationships with prospective customers. It also provides you advertising in the Remodel magazine for the year. In conjunction with the tour, you then can submit that project for our local Contactor of Excellence Awards (CEA) and the National Contractor of the Year (COTY).

I wanted to also congratulate all the winners of the CEA awards from 2018 and Membership awards. These individuals were active with NARI in both participation and sponsorship. Without their love for the industry and NARI, we would not be who we are today. Thanks again for all you did last year and I hope you have a great 2019.
