Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)
Effective QAPI programs are critical to improving the quality of life, and quality of care and services delivered in nursing
homes. This educational offering will focus on the barriers and steps to successfully implement a Quality Assurance and
Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan.
Attendees are asked to bring their facility’s QM reports – Characteristics, Facility and resident level reports with a 6 month look back in the report period of 4/1/17 – 9/30/17 & most recent 5 Star provider rating report – see attached How to Access document. Meeting objectives:
• At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to discuss an understanding of QAPI (Quality Assurance
Performance Improvement)
• At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to identify three focus areas for their QAPI Plan.
• At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to discuss the initial regulation for QAPI. Join TMF Health Quality Institute & OAHCP for this 1-day training offering 6 hours of ceu’s for RCAL/NH/ADC/HCA. This educational offering has been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) and approved for 6 participant hours. Accessing the new MDS QM Reports
Login with your user ID and password.(Hint: same user ID and password used for submitting the MDS)
Login takes you to the “Welcome to CASPER” page.
Click on “Reports.”
Click on “MDS QM Reports” in the box on the left.
Click on ‘Submit’
Click on the “Folders” button in the toolbar.
Fast Connection
Click on the icon on your desktop used for submission of MDS.
On the first screen, click on “MDS.”
At the CMS Welcome Page, select “CASPER Reporting (online reports).”
Click on “MDS QM Package.”
Enter the date range of data you want.
Download reports(recommended for users with a slow
internet connection)
Click “Zip” and save to your desktop.
Find the .zip file on your desktop and double click.
Right-click the report you want to view and open with Adobe Acrobat.
Select the reports you wish to download.Select the reports you wish to print.
Click “Print PSRs.”
Print multiple reports(output format must be selected as PSR under options before the reports are requested)
View reports on screen
To print, click “Print.”
Click on the report name link and the report will display.
Slow Connection
Click on the “Options” button in
the toolbar.
Under “Output Format” select PDF, click “Save” and then “Return.”
