1 INTRODUCTION
QK-W015 series remote controller is a versatile device which can be attached to many of
electronic devices in homes, offices, plants, or wherever you need. Operators can control any
remote equipments, heater, lights, machines, or power sockets from anywhere in the world
through internet. QK-W015 support three relay outs and 433MHz RF transmitter. RF power
sockets within 50 meters of QK-W015 can be controlled by mobile operators.

2 SETUP
2.1 Power up
QK-W015 remote controller need to be powered by 12VDC voltage. Connect a 12 volt DC
power supply to the power socket, switch on the power supply. The blue LED should light
up and then flashing slowly. After about 10 seconds, the Red LED will light up indication
system finishes initialization.
2.2 Access QK-W015
After QK-W015 finish initialization, operator should be able to scan SSID on the mobile
terminals and find a SSID called ‘WiFi168’. Access WLAN of the mobile terminal and
connect with the ‘WiFi168’. The default password is ‘88888888’. Blue LED will keep light
up once the ‘WiFi168’ is connected by the operators mobile terminal. If ‘WiFi168’ cannot

be found, please go to ‘RESET’ section of this application note following the steps to reset
the module.

3 AD-HOC MODE
The IEEE 802.11 has two basic modes of operation: Ad-hoc mode and infrastructure
mode(also called station mode). In ad hoc mode, mobile terminals transmit directly peer-to-
peer. While In infrastructure mode, mobile terminals communicate through an access point(AP)
that serves as a bridge to other networks (such as Internet or LAN). QK-W015 WiFi controller
can support in both Ad-hoc and Station mode.
Setting QK-W015 works in Ad-hoc mode is quite straightforward. Once the mobile terminal
connected to WiFi168 network, QK-W015 then works in Ad-hoc automatically.

3.1 Connect With Mobile phones
Once the ‘WiFi168’ is connected, operators can control these electronics devices in
‘Main control panel’ which have connected on relays and RF main sockets. The
indicator icons (the light bulb next to ‘Off’ button) can demonstrator each relay.
Due to one way communication between QK-W015 and 433MHz RF main sockets,
the status of the RF main sockets cannot be check and indicated.

3.2 Rename the port
Operators can rename the three relay outputs and three RF main sockets as meaningful names
through settings on App.

4 STATION (INFRASTRUCTURE) MODE
To control QK-W015 remotely, it should be set working in station mode, operator need perform
the following procedure to finish the setting.
1,Press and hold the ‘Reset’ button, then power up QK-W015. The blue LED will light up for few
seconds, then the red LED turns on. Keep the red LED turns on for 3 seconds, release
‘Reset ’button.
These icons indicate the
status of the relays.

2, Wait for 60 seconds, red LED turns off and then turns on again. During this period, blue LED
blinking every second interval.
3, Operator can now use the mobile terminal search and connect ‘WiFi168’.
4, Once this Ad-hoc connection has been setup, operator can start the following setting through
APP.
SSID name ---- Input the SSID name(or called AP name) which QK-W015 will access to.
Password --- Input the password for accessing AP. Quark-elec notices for some old type
Access Point, they maybe have connection problem with QK-W015 if the AP security type
set as ‘WEP’. So, if operator has the access problem, please change the security type to
‘WPA’ or ‘WPA2’, avoiding ‘WEP’ on the wireless router.
IP address --- Dynamic IP address will be assigned by QK-W015 if operator don’t set a
static IP address on APP.
5, Re-power up QK-W015 to apply the remote control function.
4.1 Station mode setting through APP
Operator should make sure QK-W015 has connected with the mobile terminal in ad-hoc
mode before the following setting. Run the APP, click ‘Station mode setting’, input SSID of
the AP and then ‘Save’. The red LED will turn off. Keep waiting until the response
message received from QK-W015. Then the same way applies for setting the password. It
is recommended that operator don’t set static IP address to QK-W015 if static IP address
has to be used.

4.2 Switching to station mode
Once the above setting finished, operator can click ‘Switch to station mode’ to set QK-
W015 working in station mode.
After click ‘Switch to station mode’, the red LED light will turn off indicating system is busy.
Waiting about 90 seconds, the blue LED will turns off. Another 30 seconds, the red LED
light turn on firstly and then the blue LED. If the SSID or password is not correct, then the
blue LED will keep blink. In this case, operator should reset the module and repeat the
setting procedure again.
Once QK-W015 has successfully connected with the AP in station mode, operator should
re-power up QK-W015 to get the full function applied (don’t press the reset button during
the re-power process).

4.3 Reset
Operator can always reset QK-W015 if the setting is incorrect or would like to switch the working
mode. Following below steps to reset QK-W015 to the factory settings:
1, Power off QK-W015.
2, Press and hold the ‘Reset’ button, then power up QK-W015. Blue LED will light up for few
seconds, then the red LED turns on. Keep the red LED turns on for 3 seconds, release
‘Reset ’button.
3, Wait for 60 seconds, the red LED turns off and then turns on again. During this period, the
blue LED is blinking every second.
4, Operator can now available to connect to ‘WiFi168’.
5 PARING WITH RF POWER SOCKETS
QK-W015 has a build-in 433Mhz RF transmitter module. It can pair with up to four RF power
sockets. So the operators are able to turn ON/OFF the electrical devices by switching the
power sockets.
The power sockets have been paired and ready to use if they come with QK-W015. However
the operator can always pair or release the pairing by following steps:
Insert the RF power socket into a powered mains wall socket.
The LED light on the socket should flash at 1 second intervals indicating it’s ready to
pair with the QK-W015. If the lights doesn’t flash, press and hold the ON/OFF button for
5 seconds to clear the memory indicated by the quickly flashing LED.
Open WiFi Remote control panel in App, press the corresponding RF switch ‘ON’
button. The paring command will be sending out through RF signals.

Figure 10 RF Switch ON buttons
Once the power socket received the paring command, The LED light on the socket will
flash briefly more quickly and then flash at 1 second intervals. This RF main socket
should have been successfully paired now.
Repeat above process for each different RF main sockets.
Simply plug-in the appliance which you want to operate remotely into the socket, press the
corresponding ON button on App that is paired to the socket. The appliance will turn on.
6 APP(ANDROID VERSION)
The latest version of Android APP can be downloading with the following link:
http://www.quark-elec.com/down/class/?3.html
Once the mobile phone has connected with QK-W015, the operator can control
these electronics devices which connected on relays and RF main sockets. And the
operator can check the relays status by click ‘Check relays status’.

7.2 RF main sockets
Customer can select USA, European or UK type RF main sockets. Quark-elec standard RF
main sockets support 2000 Watts power rating.
Although QK-W015 have running specific algorithm to increase the RF transmission reliability,
Quark-elec cannot guarantee 100% of proper action rate of RF main sockets. QK-W015 RF
signal could be affect by other nearby RF devices such as bell ring, car key, cordless phone,
mobile phone, RF alarm system. The following is a real test result taken in a house
environment in the UK.
