Without sufficient membership registered for the convention by the 30 th of May, I will have no choice but to cancel the meeting. I am not committed to attending the convention yet because I am involved with the USS Tre- pang’s 50 th of her commissioning reunion on August 14 th here in Groton, CT. Also I am co- ordinating the USS Remora’s 75 th Anniversary of her Keel Laying and Launching reunion on November 4 th in Kings Bay, GA. Shipmates, It seems that after I had mt knee operation and I sold my coach I must have left my brain somewhere. I forgot to send to Mike my part of the newsletter

and then I am late for the 1st quarter newsletter also. My last travel adventure was to San Diego for a USS Wahoo Reunion. Had a great time. Now I am planning to go to the next Wahoo Reunion in Pensacola, FL. But it is not until 2921. Hopefully the virus thing will be over and we won't have to stay 6 foot apart from each other. The has not been much going on with the SubVet treasury except the two checks (at different times) to Stan Cook for our web site and domain name. OH! I forgot we do get interest

on our savings account. Here is a summary of the last 6 months of our treasury.

From the SecretaryNot a lot going on here in Vallejo. Like

most states, we are in lock down. Makes for nice commutes for those still having to drive to work. For most of us, we are enjoying getting mileage of about 1 week per gallon. But the cars are growing cobwebs.

For those of you familiar with Vallejo, this is allergy season and so many of us continually wonder if we are coming down with the virus or . . .

Just before the Mare Island Museum was closed for the duration, someone found pictures that show how submarines were designed before computer aided design became available. Here are a few pictures. They are of the Grayback SS574. How many of us could not

resist playing with the 45?

In the past, I have mentioned getting OTA, which is Over The Air TV, if you live close to a

metropolitan area with OTA TV stations like ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. Now you don't need to be within sight of the towers. I live 35 miles from Seattle and I get great HD OTA TV. So, here is how you do it and recommendations below.

To find out if you are close to stations you need to go to http://tvfool.com then click on Check Your Address for Free TV. On the menu click Signal Analyzer. On the next page enter your address and height above ground the click Find Local Channels. Next click on Digital Only and a window will open showing the channels. You can also click to save the image to your computer. There you should see the local stations we talked about above. If you don't see them then you are just too far away. If you see them but not in the green they are okay but you need an amplifier and a good antenna. I will list what I use before.

I recommend Tablo TV DVR box. There is no charge for using the box but for $5 a month you can get a really good channel menu. And new to them this year is commercial skip. That runs $20 a year and really worth it. Once recorded in the box within a couple of hours that commercials have been removed.

Okay, below is the equipment I recommend. The Tabo box, A 75-mile antenna, and the amplifier.

I was told for years I could not do it where we live. It took a none tech and YouTube to prove me wrong. Good luck. Here are the links.
