BP announced today that the Brazilian National Petroleum
Agency (ANP) has approved its farm-in to four deepwater exploration and production concessions operated by Petróleo
Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) in the Brazilian equatorial margin.
“BP is building on our strengths in exploration and the deepwater and these four new blocks bring exciting
new exploration opportunities, adding to the already significant position we hold in Brazil,” said Bob
Dudley, BP group chief executive. “I am pleased
that this also deepens our strong relationship with Petrobras, one of the world’s leading

Chevron Corporation’s executive
met March 13th at their annual security analyst meeting in New
York. "Financially, 2011 was a record year
for Chevron. We generated the strongest earnings and cash flow in
our company's history," said John Watson, Chevron's chairman and
CEO. "Looking ahead, we are well
positioned and committed to delivering consistently strong
financial and operating perform-ance. For 2012, we have a sharp
focus on executing our major capital projects,
which underpin 20 percent volume
growth over the

“ExxonMobil and its employees and
retirees in North Texas raised more than $1.6 million for Dallas/Fort Worth-
area charitable organizations during the inaugural Employees' Favorite Charities
Campaign.
Employees and retirees contributed to 219 charities with more than half
qualifying for a matching corporate
contribution because of their focus on providing health and human services.
As a result, 127 local non-profit organizations received contributions
from Exxon Mobil Corporation in addition to the individual contributions

Beginning April 16th, Swift will take on additional
contractors through an INVISTA transfer. Swift busi-ness development manager, Natalie Snider, has built a
solid relationship with the company in Texas. INVISTA prides itself on transforming daily life through its innovations in the nylon, spandex, polyester and specialty material industries. In
February, INVISTA’s nylon intermediates manufacturing facility in Victoria re-earned its STAR status, the highest
designation under the U.S. Occupational Safety and
Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Programs. (invista.com)
Team, I am excited to share with you all the progress we have been making here at Swift. I started with Swift eleven years ago in the United Kingdom, and I have been managing North America from the Houston office for the past seven. I have seen nothing but tremendous growth and a hard work ethic, and I am proud to be part of the strong Swift network here in the United States. The only constant in 2012 has been change. We have hired 17 additional resources to support our direct hire division and have been hard at work training them to be the best recruiters possible. As you may have read in the Houston Business Journal, we have officially moved our global headquarters to Houston. We are in the process of expanding our physical office to support the additional manpower.
Finally, Clay Jessop was hired in March as Swift’s internal HSE Manager. The safety, welfare and well-being of staff, contractors and clients is at the forefront of everything we do, and it will be Clay’s job to take forward the great work we’ve done over the past few years. Swift Worldwide Resources Angola director Terry Eaves and CEO Tobias Read hand Universida de Metodista de Angola (The Methodist University of Angola) vice chairman Pedro Sebastiao and board member Sabino Paulo Pinheiro a check for $462,936 on the school’s campus in Luanda, Angola. The donation will help replace two generators, cables, and control boxes that were destroyed in a recent fire. Tobias says the generators will make studying possible even during frequent power outages.
INTO THE RECRUITING FAST LANE British firm Swift Worldwide quietly shift HQ to Houston

Having recently changed its home address from South London to Houston, Swift Worldwide Resources is looking to shoot to the top of the energy recruiting space. Tobias Read, Swift’s CEO, said the 28-year-old company made the overseas move because it was important to be accessible to the people who make the decisions and the deals that drive the energy business. “Houston is the global headquarters of the oil and gas world,” Read said. Swift was founded in the United Kingdom by Pat Swift, a commissioning engineer who worked for London-based BP Plc. During the 1980s, hiring was handled more regionally, and Swift found that the traditional, local staffing businesses weren’t meeting the demands of a global industry, Read said. “Years ago, Chevron and BP had hiring managers in Houston, and it was a self- contained environment,” Read said. “A whole lot has changed and become more integrated.” Big energy companies still have hiring managers, Read said, but they may coordinate their efforts with staffing agencies to amass a range of skills needed
throughout the world.
In addition to BP, which intends to hire as many as 1,200 new employees in the Houston region by 2013, Swift lists among its clients Houston-based companies such as ConocoPhillips, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and Apache Corp.
To be successful in the oil and gas business, a staffing company must be able to dispatch skilled workers to anywhere in the world from Australia to Angola, Read said. “The formula has to be adaptable,” he said. “Otherwise, (staffing) companies will be squeezed out.” As for his own global adaptation, Read has already moved from his South London home to an apartment in Houston. Transitioning the academic lives of his four children proved to be daunting; his family will follow him within the next 18 months, once the oldest two of his four children are ready for university. Swift’s Houston office placed 89 permanent hires in 2011, and a total of 150 globally. Driving the demand for skilled workers, he said, is largely based on the increase in energy sector capital expenditures in projects in domestic shale formations, North American tar sands, the Gulf of Mexico and international locations such as Australia. In February, Rachel Twining and Emily Lutz made a trip to East Texas to visit Pat Bellard and Wiley Balkum on a well site in Marshall. On the way home
