Principal’s report
Book Week celebrations!
What a wonderful day was had by all last Wednesday!
Beautiful sunshine, lots of fabulous costumes and
many family members in attendance made for a most
enjoyable day. A huge thank you to all of the students
for their fantastic participation and efforts – and to the
many family members who helped in creating some
awesome outfits! My thanks to Mrs Commins for once
again organising our Book Fair. Our final tally was
$3504 worth of books sold! This will mean a significant
amount of books will now go into our library – thank
you everyone!

Wimpy Kid) & Destini (Matilda)
Kennedy (The Old Man from ‘Up’)
Spelling Bee
Congratulations to four of our students on their
selection to represent Junee North in the Premier’s
Spelling Bee. The regional finals are being held at
South Wagg Public School on Monday 4 September.
Good luck to Aimee White, Tristan Davis, Shallan
Wright and Ella Fitzgerald.
Stage 2 is buzzing with interest!
All Stage 2 students were treated to a very informative
session with local apiarist (bee keeper), Vincent. We
certainly learned some amazing facts!
Keegan in full bee-keeper outfit!
CHORDS Choir success
Our CHORDS choir group attended their first
combined rehearsal in Wagga recently. Several of our
students auditioned to be part of the ‘core choir’ group
and a number were successful in being selected! Well
done to Luke Moon, Jaxson Allen, Nikita Simpson,
Paige Vanzanten, Bayley Guinan, Ella Fitzgerald, Tiger-
lilly Kemp and Madeleine Cameron. These students will
be very busy performing on all 4 days and nights
during CHORDS week!
Captains display great respect
Last Friday I accompanied our school captains, Cooper
and Madeleine to the Junee Ex-Services Club to
represent our school in honouring the Vietnam
Veterans. They laid a beautiful wreath and showed
tremendous respect during the service.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Little Groovers
Tell Them From Me
This Term, our school will be participating in the
Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the
Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher
and parent surveys) on student engagement. The
survey asks parents and carers questions about
different factors that are known to impact on student
wellbeing and engagement.
Running this survey will help our school understand
parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s
experience at school. These include: communication
between parents/carers and staff, activities and
practices at home and parent/carer views on the
school's support of learning and behaviour. This
valuable feedback will help our school make practical
improvements.
The survey is conducted entirely online on
smartphones, Ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The
survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete
and is completely confidential. The parent survey will
be conducted between 21 August and 13 October.
Although participating in the survey is entirely
voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.
More information about the survey is available at:
http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au
To access the survey for our school go to: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/jnps2017
P&C News NEW MENU TO START TERM 4
As mentioned in our last newsletter, all schools must
now abide by strict regulations as to the items on the
menu. As part of these requirements several items
have to be removed from our current menu and
replaced with healthier alternatives. This relies on the
generosity of families giving up some time to assist
with cooking these items. Unfortunately we won’t be
ready to start our new menu until next term due to the
lack of time and availability of helpers. We would ask
that when the call is put out (via our P&C Facebook
page) for cooking helpers, that you consider giving up
a few hours to ensure we have these other options –
otherwise our menu will become very limited.
P&C MEETING
Our next meeting is being held on Tuesday 5
September at 6:15 pm in the staffroom – all welcome!

What’s happening in our school?
Stage 2 all ‘abuzz’
As part of their involvement in the ‘Week of Tastes’
Stage 2 students enjoyed a visit from Vincent, a local
bee keeper. Vincent had the students (and teachers!)
fascinated with the information he was able to provide
about these amazing creatures.

Author Robyn shares her craft
Brisbane author, Robyn Press entertained our students
with a performance of her ‘fractured fairytale’
Goldilocks. The students then worked with Robyn
discussing how an author writes a story and the
processes involved. Thank you Robyn!
Book Parade!
Sunshine, wonderful costumes, books galore, lots of
smiling faces and families – what more could we want?
