Use cases of SAP Cloud Appliance Library (CAL)
Get a first hands-on tool experience in a trial environment
– Deploy a preconfigured Focused Build scenario in SAP
Solution Manager 7.2 in a hosted environment (e.g. AWS).
– Usage for trial purposes is free of charge.
– The CAL image includes an SAP internal license for
SAP Solution Manager which is valid for 30 days.
– After 30 days, for the Focused Build scenario you need
licenses available in SAP Store or obtain usage rights
through a dedicated service (Premium engaged customers
only!) to continue working with the system.
The CAL solution even includes a connected SAP S/4 HANA
system, which allows the trial of an integrated requirement-to-
deploy process

established as the standard implementation method for SAP S/4HANA

Customers who have ordered these services benefit from the SAP Solution
Manager enhancements set up through the service during the complete
lifecycle of the premium engagement.

Licensing through the SAP Store
All other customers can buy licenses in the SAP Store for only € 250 per user
per year.

Who is a user?
Licensing is based on named users per year
Only users who actually work with the solution need to be licensed.
Users in Focused Build are all active project members. Testers are
not counted as active users.
Named users who execute functions of focused solutions are
counted with the standard license auditing processes of SAP.
Licenses are valid for least one year and can be individually
extended for another year

It is strongly recommended to enable a Methodology and Tool coach if you
plan to use the Focused Build - Requirements to Deploy- process.
Focused Build coaches are provided from either SAP Service Delivery (PE
customers) or from a Focused Solution Circle member.
Typical tasks of a methodology and tool coach are
– Support in defining the implementation concept aligned with SAP Solution Manager,
SAP Activate, SAP Model Company, and SAP Value Assurance services
– Explain the tasks, benefits, and key deliverables in each phase and the integration with
SAP Activate
– Act as a central contact and key user guide and explain the users in their different roles
the Focused Build processes in projects
– Being able to support projects in the tool administration and master data maintenance
for the Focused Build processes
– Orchestrate required technical tasks to get setup services, technical support, etc.
– Being your contact to SAP as part of a Focused Build community with regular exchange
of experiences with other FB experts and SAP Backbone.

plan to use the Focused Build - Requirements to Deploy- process.
Focused Build coaches are provided from either SAP Service Delivery (PE
customers) or from a Focused Solution Circle member.
Focused Build Coaches are part of an expert community. So they are
always up to date with latest technical knowledge and expertise from SAP
Product Management.

How can you participate?
Get in touch with your SAP contact person in the project to provide a
customer reference about your Focused Build project
OR send immediately an E-mail to [email protected]
This involves little to almost no time investment from you (just some time for
the review and approval process)
You will not be contacted by other customers unless you wish to act as a
reference customer (e.g. on events).
What happens with your reference?
Your reference is finalized by the SAP DBS Reference Program team and
will be promoted via SAP-internal and external communications channels
such as SAP Support Portal, customer events, and social media.

License Renewal For SAP Standard and SAP Enterprise Support Customers only
When do your Focused Build licenses expire?
For the term of twelve (12) months (Initial Term), Licensee will
rent the software products pursuant to the agreement in SAP
Store. After the Initial Term, the Agreement will automatically
renew for subsequent periods of twelve (12) months, if not
terminated by either party with thirty (30) days written notice to
the other party.
