What is Service-Learning?Service-Learning is a teaching/learning method which is rapidly gaining popularity in schools and colleges across the country. When you enroll in a Service-Learning course at PCC, it means the professor has agreed to include a service option or requirement in the course. Instead of writing a research paper or taking an exam, you will perform community service and then relate that service to the course material in a written report, presentation, or other method of reflection of the instructor's choosing. The amount of time required for this option is entirely up to the professor and, therefore, will vary from course to course.

memory, health, happiness, etc. Satisfy UHD mission to “promotes civic

responsibility and applies its intellectual capital and talent to benefit the larger community” (Strategic Plan, 2008, p. 10).

2Select one non-profit organization, contact the volunteer coordinator and visit them.

September 30, 2010 Submit copy of signed Service Learning Agreement Form with organization. See course content folder labeled “forms”.

Decide what you’re going to do for your service learning activity, have the contact person sign the Service Learning Agreement.
