Info to know:Prostaglandins were first discovered in human semen around

1935, and today we know that they are found in almost every human tissue. Prostaglandins act like chemical messengers, but they work within the tissues where they are synthesized. Researchers are working to understand ways in which prostaglandins may be able to help control cardiovascular disease and viral infections. Researchers are also focusing on understanding ways to prevent prostaglandin synthesis, which may prove useful in pain control, preventing asthma attacks, and in reducing the ability of blood to clot. In 1982, three biochemists received the Nobel Prize for their work concerning prostaglandins and related biologically active substances.
